I saw a therapist for some tramatic childhood stuff recently. It lasted over 6 months but I stopped going around Christmas. I guess thats like a shrink

As mine says "You don't need to be fixed because you're not broken - you just need to clear all the garbage."

Some of us weren't born with confidence or high esteem or raised in a family that had those things either, so we're clueless of how to go about in life. Someone has to dig in deep to help us integrate those things because being told "Pull up your socks and just do it." is pointless when you don't know how.

couldn't afford the therapist before insurance, and now I feel like I don't need it. I couldn't open up to her anyway, I am on medication and my man is great with talking openly with me about everything that is bothering me.

I did a few times a couple years ago during a really rough patch (way before Eden).

He really didn't help me and going to him made me an "unacceptable" donor for plasma (about $250/month I was out)

Had to way back when I was 15-16, but nothing since. I've actually tried to go once or twice in the last 5 years, but for some reason they didn't seem to care that I was borderline suicidal.

I was rather annoyed by that, as I recall.

I have seen a shrink in the past about my abusive childhood and also during one of my pregnancies. But it's been many years since I've seen a shrink and no plans to.

I have wanted to see a shrink because of past issues, but when I was younger my mother always said "no." Reason she always gave was they would take me away from her. In the end, I never saw one.

Why was that? I wouldn't expect high correlation between seeing a therapist and blood-borne pathogens...?

Tried to go once and she seemed bored. Just wanted to explore my crappy childhood and try to figure out why I care so much.

It may have something to do with raised blood pressure. If it's too high (from stress, for example), you can't donate.

I just stopped seeing a therapist I wasn't thrilled with just to try to rationalize and deal with my recent break-up, but that was just for about a month. I've seen a psychiatrist for years though for generalized anxiety disorder. It's more a brain chemistry issue than an emotional thing. My brain misfires a lil'.

I have only seen one once, and it was just for an IQ test when I was little. My sis went to one briefly, and I didn't see any improvement. My parents did marriage counseling for a bit as well, and it only helped while they were doing it.

I asked to go see one around the middle of high school (16-ish?). My parents kinda ignored it, though, since I said I didn't actually feel suicidal and just needed to talk to someone. I still have that feeling sometimes, but I have friends who I talk to mainly so we can rant back and forth. And my guy is surprisingly tolerant of my just babbling to him .

As far as medication, I may eventually have to be on it. My grandmother is on anti-depressants, and my sister and I both have depression pretty frequently. It's just the chemical imbalance, not any real issues we have. I'm just hoping I can keep fighting it off without medication, I get scared thinking of becoming dependent on pills

"let go" as in graduated or fired? because i'm one of the ones that literally got fired as a patient by my shrink. she handed me 3 months of scripts was nasty to me, and said see ya. (and raised her voice etc)

out of the blue. i think because i lost my insurance and she was giving me a reduced rate which she had never done for anyone before.

i can't imagine what she put in my file to cover her ass.

I was ruled out because I was on one medication to help me sleep. Because I was on a medication, the donation place needed the doc to sign off that it was ok. He refused to sign off that I was ok to donate plasma for whatever reason. He came up with one reason, I provided info. He came up with another reason, he ignored it. I wondered if he just had personal reasons/issues with people donating plasma.

I've never seen anyone, but am starting classes this year when I graduate with the writing school and I always planned to go for psychology, but I'm leaning toward the more holistic stuff now. I've never seen anyone myself, but after going through a traumatic experience at 15 my BF wanted me to, but I refused & he said he'd be what I needed. With his help and God's of course, I'm much better and certainly don't even need to see a Dr. now which I'm so grateful for.

BUT, I am on meds for pain and anxiety. I was put on them this year after surgery from my OB/GYN They knock me out cold. I'm actually surprised I'm not crashed out on my laptop drooling with my smoke laying in bed beside me right now! Lol. My eyes are burning and I'm seriously barely making it! Those things are just powerful. He tells me to take 4 a day, but I've never been able to take more than one! Lol. I usually don't even remember if I had company or not during the 4 hour time before they wear off.
