No I don't see one now but I used to. I think it's healthy to get all your "dirty laundry" out there once in a while and just lay it all out on someone else whos only job is to sit there and listen

I don't see one. I don't need one. I used to think I did because my dad was abusive to me as a child and I had serious trust issues and issues with people drinking and body issues because of things my parents told me as a kid. But I came to terms with things and got over them.

Medicated for PTSD, major depression, anxiety... also on a mood stabilizer typically prescribed to people with bipolar disorder, so I'm not sure if my diagnosis changed after that, or what. I will say openly and honestly, if I were not medicated, I would not be here right now. Therapy alone is not enough to manage my... ahem... issues. The crazy is strong with this one. LOL

I do see a therapist every other week though and it absolutely helps to be able to talk about it. But for some people, talking about their problems only helps them to deal with it, it does not always make the problem itself go away. So if anyone is struggling with that, or the need to be medicated, please don't feel like it's some sort of bad judgment about you or your character or your ability to handle things. I've known so many people who could benefit from therapy or meds and thought that if they did either it would make them weak, and it breaks my heart, because therapy and meds saved my life.

I also want to make sure I say... to everyone who's posted in this thread about past issues, I know it sounds cliche, but you are strong and beautiful and I'm proud of the progress you've made, even if you don't think it's quite "enough" <3

I have been to therapy before, but I tend to lie. Not on purpose, I just want them to like me, so I like to say I'm better than I actually am.

I used to, from ages 5 to 18. After being raped and molested at age 5 the state made my mother put me in a counseling thing for what was supposed to have been 2 years, but it kept going after my mother lost my brother, they believed I kept having traumatic events when I wasn't.
I even had one try to lie to me about my family, saying the wrong man raped me. It got to the point I actually hit her myself just to make it stop, they gave me another one who did a much better job, but after seeing them for nearly 15 years 1 every single damn week I had enough.

I do have anxiety, but I manage to stay at the correct level. I manage pretty well plus talkign to Andy helps me out a lot.

No -- no doctors, medications, or therapists.

But at this time two years ago I was taking two medications and was seeing a therapist.

I had a shrink back when I was a teenager. We would talk about history and politics and he never acted like a typical shrink. But somehow talking to him made me feel a lot better. I really with I could see one now, but my international student insurance won't cover it.

I've seen several therapists, but none have actually helped me. I was even on meds for a short period of time, but it didn't really show me anything different.
