I'm on Celexa right now, and I have noticed a difference sadly :/ I'm thinking of tapering off them or switching to Wellbutrin.

Part of the reason I've been so interested in this site recently is that I started taking antidepressants in November last year. Libido took a bit of a dip, but I think it's more because of the inorgasmia I've been experiencing. I've failed to have one so many times when normally it would have taken me less than ten minutes that I tend to ignore it when I want to masturbate now.

I haven't taken antidepressants, but I've had a lot of problems with medication messing with my libido.

With one exception mine has always gone down, the exception for me is Wellbutrin, it goes way up! I take it for anxiety. While I am a fairly open book with not much of a filter, on this medication I have near no filter in the bedroom and am rather wild. It is nice to feel like my younger self, but so so much better now with some years and experience. 30's as is upped my Libido, Wellbutrin just gets things out of my way so I can be myself without distractions.

Some categories of antidepressants are notorious their less than stellar reputation in the bedroom. Note I say some; other formulations may not impact the sex drive at all, and your libido and enjoyment can skyrocket once you treat any anhedonia (diminished ability to derive pleasure), stress (ect).

If you are trying to choose between mental health and emotional health, talk to your primary care Dr/NP/PA. They can help you find the right treatment plan.
I have a severe mood disorder and have a fairly complex regime. It takes a helluva lot to reach orgasm now, however, I'd rather be happy, healthy and safe than reaching climax more regularly.

I don't think there's a need to take one here. We should just find the problem and deal with it. We might be dependent though when taking it regularly. EdenFantasys Logo

Some antidepressants have killed my libido completely (like effexor, which is an ssri) whereas others temporarily dampened my libido but it later recovered (like cymbalta, which is an snri).

Of course, depression in general also kills my libido, so just going off meds doesn't fix anything for me.

Well I've been on an antidepressant for anxiety reasons (not depression) since the 3rd grade (now senior in college) so I don't really know how I'll be effected once I get off....It'll be interesting in a couple of years.

I've been on a anti-depressant anti-anxiety combo medicine and my libido tanked almost immediately after I went on it. I went from wanting to masturbate every day(+) to less than once a week. I'm starting to get used to it but it is very frustrating to deal with.

But I'm not suicidal anymore, so at least it's working!
