I'm supposed to make a video about social reform/world change for a class, so I decided to pick something that's really pissing me off right now.
Apparently, on February 19, the proposal to cut funding for Planned Parenthood passed in the House of Representatives. I know that contraception has always been a dicey issue in the US, but I never expected to see this. I hope that Obama will take care of this, but I maintain that if this can even pass in the House, then there's a problem.
So, I have this idea for a project where people could submit personal videos about protecting access to birth control and alternative options that are provided by Planned Parenthood and similar organizations. I might start a blog, or a website for the project, I'm not sure yet, but I think it'd be a good idea.
I'm still figuring out the schematics of... this project, but I would like some volunteers to talk about their opinions on contraceptives, access to contraceptives, importance of birth control and safe sex in society, and the budget cuts for Planned Parenthood. Hell, if you'd like, you can even give a history lesson in women's rights. It'd like a range of emotions and topics. Any submissions could be used in the final video, but if I can get a website up and running, any videos not used in the main video could in theory be shared on the site.
I'm starting this thread, because I wondered if anyone on EF would be interested in participating in this video project. I actually have a FB event for this, but I've only invited FB friends so far. It'd be really cool if we could get spread enthusiasm like wildfire and maybe get people across the country to participate.
No contribution to this project is too small, seriously.
Let your voice your voice be heard.
