With Sigel I had holy hell conceiving. My hormones are hit and miss and he had a bit of fertility problems stemming from having had chicken pox at 16. It took us nearly ten years of unprotected sex to have our first child. The second, however, took just 9 months...it was like our bodies had figured out how to do this thing!
With my fertility and hormone issues we weren't too careful, Arch and I. It took just three months to get pregnant with our son.
I wouldn't return to those tense years waiting for our daughter to come along...it was heart breaking.

I ended up getting pregnant even when I didn't think I could.

I had to go on Clomid for 3 months and wound up pregnant with our twins.

The second time I got Clomid to try and get pregnant - I somehow lost the bottle - a while later the dog had 13 puppies.

We decided to not try again with meds but just sorta leave it in God's hands (Christians) and let Him decide what was best for us.

We're happy with our 27 year old twins.

Yes. I have PCOS (I was told borderline when I was trying to get pregnant, but my current doctor just says I have it). I made an attempt to lose weight, cut out caffiene, and charted my cycles to get pregnant with my first. I had to take provera a couple times to jump start my cycles as well. My 2nd, we got lucky and didn't have to do anything special. If we were to try again anytime soon, we would need to be more proactive as I have 6+ month cycles currently.

OMG am I fertile, I have been with my partner 5years and I have been pregnant 3times.

I first got pregnant after 3months of stopping my birth control. Which resulted in a miscarriage. ended Dec.3,07

The second time I got pregnant had positive test by Feb.8, 08, which resulted in my first son, born Nov. 2, 2008.

The third time I got pregnant I had stopped taking my birth control pill(Which was period week) May 21st, 2010 and had a positive test by June4,2010, so that took 2weeks. Which resulted in my second son born Feb 21, 2011.

We have no issues getting pregnant so far, but we are going to be trying again soon

It was fairly simple to get pregnant when we actually tried for it, so no problems there. Haven't had any accidental pregnancies as yet, but I'm on the pill and very vigilant about taking it and following proper use.

I have PCOS and I am working on getting pregnant, but no luck with five years of trying with no help. Starting clomid (makes you ovulate) in january so we'll see how that goes.

Despite endometriosis and hormonal problems which may cause anovulatory periods, (and being told by one doctor "It will be difficult for you to get pregnant." and an other, "You probably won't be able to get pregnant.") I get pregnant if My Man looks at me and winks from across the room.

We've never had to "try" to conceive and most of our kids were conceived with ONE sexual session with no birth control.

Our first child (and my first pregnancy) was the result of the very first time (in MANY years together) we had sex without protection.

If we weren't careful, we'd have our own show on TLC, "27 kids and Horny." There is, aside from having your organs removed NO WAY a doctor can "know" if you are really fertile or not. I know so many patients, (and myself included) who took "It will be difficult or impossible for you to get pregnant." as a license to ditch the birth control, only to end up unexpectedly pregnant.

Always assume you are fertile, unless history dictates otherwise (even then, you could be.)

Been married 32 years - have used birth control for maybe 6 months (we did use Natural Family Planning where you chart your ovulation, etc. for about 2 years).

We had to go on Clomid for me to get pregnant - on the third cycle of Clomid I became pregnant with twins. When they were 4 months old, I got pregnant again and then promptly miscarried.

My cycles (before I went through the change of life) were about 3-6 months apart and sometimes I had to get a shot to start my period.

I think it would be pretty safe to say I was infertile mostly!

Yes, most likely.

But, I am a nurse who works in Maternal Infant health, including OBGYN and Post Partum. We see so many women with similar histories who still get pregnant, I'm not saying ALL do or will. Just that the ability to conceive and the female body's near need to conceive should not be underestimated. (So, ladies, if you don't want to get pregnant, USE that birth control! Even if you think you "can't" get pregnant. I got pregnant at least 2 or 3 times during my "safe time" with Natural Family Planning. I honestly feel the Couple to Couple League (and I have 3 friends who are leaders in this league) want us all pregnant all the time. )

Of course, there are and always have been infertile women, and men, but as a rule, people are sometimes more fertile than they have been told they are.

I know more people with kids who were told, "You'll never be able to get pregnant." One of them I know has 8 kids.....

Fertility is a strange thing. It's not always predictable.

Me and my boyfriend did. About two years ago we thought we were ready, and started trying to have a baby. We tried for almost a year, and didn't have any luck. We both were checked out and nothing was wrong that the doctor could see. We just think it wasn't yet ment to be at that time. We decided to put it off, and try again in a few years. It was a stressful time, and I'm in no rush to go through that again. We both figured being nothing was wrong with us, that maybe God knew we really were not ready.

I'm like you. I have more of a problem NOT becoming pregnant every time I turn around. I swear if we wash our underwear in the same load I would become pregnant.

This is so interesting. I know two other women who needed help to become pregnant the first time, then became pregnant easily without help a second time. I wonder if bodies do sometimes figure it out after the first time.

Bwahahahahaha! I've worried about this, too. Or towels, or sharing bath water.

We tried for 15 years, but finally gave up. Our insurance doesn't cover fertility treatments and I just don't have thousands of dollars to keep spending on this. We don't qualify to adopt so I'm starting to learn to deal with the fact that I'm never having children.

No issues. The first one we weren't trying for, he just sort of showed up. The second we were trying. I think I conceived during my next full ovulation cycle after I stopped birth control.

Had no problems conceiving with our three pregnancies, but we did end up losing the second one about 9 weeks in (though it was another 9 weeks before we learned that I had miscarried).
