Disgusting Sweaty Issues-Any Suggestions?

Contributor: MamaDivine MamaDivine
OK, this is totally embarrassing for me to talk about. No one likes being referred to as the "stinky kid in class" but here it goes.....LOL.

My daughter (who lacks the filter between brain and mouth lol) is 8 years old, comes up to me and gives me a massive hug, shrugs back and says "Wow mom, why do you smell like pit?" lmao. Now, the way she said it and the look on her face, and the FACT she said it, about had me dying laughing. I had to calmly explain to her that it wasn't nice to "point stuff out like that" it was rude.

Then, I had to say Thank you for reminding me to shower lol. (I shower daily and no amount of soap or types of soap seem to be battling this stink). I couldn't very well condemn her for being so damned honest, but my god its been keeping me from going out of the house just to run to the pharmacy or grocery store!

I use deoderant, been through them all-even the clinical strength bla blah blah. what on earth is going on with me!?

Another thing, could my medications be doing this to me? I take (what seems like) a fist full of pills for various ailments every day, and Im really hoping its NOT from that because they really help with a lot of what I have to deal with. Just not the B.O. Issue.

Anyone else with the "super stink" going on and any ways to cure it? lol.

I've also tried "natural soaps/handmade soaps" etc. Nothing works It seems that its hitting me without even sweating sometimes too. Ugh.

i recommend switching up your deodorants. i have hyperhydrosis, over-active sweat glands, of the feet, hands, armpits... other areas too! it sucks.

i find that deodorants for me only work for a few months, then stop working.

have you tried the salt crystal? it's made to stop sweat and kill bacteria. it takes a couple days to get into effect.

i also tried a tea tree oil/lavender cream for a while. i love the way that smelled, and it was natural. it didnt stop me from sweating, but it did stop the stink. tea tree is a natural antiseptic and it kills the bacteria.
never apply tea tree to the skin directly, undiluted though, as it can burn the skin at full strength.

sadly there is no cure for hyperhydrosis, which may be causing your smell. also, change in diet can affect your smell, as well as general body changes that are unaffected by medicines.

i've noticed my smell changes in makeup about once a year. it's a natural thing. but it doesn't have to be a bad thing, or get in the way of your confidence - there are options.

i recommend Dove deodorant, it works for me. i tried going all-natural for a few years, but this summer i couldn't take it, and went back to the anti-perspirant i used to use, which WORKS.
i put it in my purse so i can reapply throughout the day.

i hope this helps! hopefully someone else can give good advice... i'm afraid this isn't much help. good luck though.

A procedure called Endoscopic Thoracic Sympathectomy (ETS) is supposed to be the most effective fix for hyperhydrosis, but the operation seems to be quite nerve-racking.

You can get armpit botox, which stops the sweat glands from functioning for several months.

i've heard that that's an actual medical condition, overactive sweat glands or something like that, and apparently there are people who inject botox into their armpits to help decrease it. i don't know what medications you're taking, but if you think this could be a side-effect then you should definitely checkw ith your doctor about it

Not much help, but last year my mother got put on some meds that made her super stinky. She would sweat this weird steamed broccoli smell and her pee smelled like it too. Ha. Maybe it's meds!

There's a good chance that your meds and perhaps diet could be contributing to it, much in the same way medications and diet can affect how you taste.

I do wonder though. For me my sweat can smell distinctly fresh and clean (for sweat, anyways), usually when I'm fresh and clean, and then it can be the dirty stink, like if I've been all day and then go to the gym without hopping in the shower to rinse off first. It was my impression that bacteria make sweat smell, and if that's the case, then you may have something off balance that's making it harder for you to really get that fresh kind of sweat.

As other's have mentioned, I'd suggest talking to your doctor. Good luck (=
