Do muscles really matter?

Contributor: sweetpea12 sweetpea12
This question is mostly for women. But as I have gotten older my taste in men has changed drastically. At first i loved really muscular skinny men. But now muscles don't really matter to me at all. Occasionally I am really attracted to muscular men but usually it is not important to me at all. Do muscles matter to you?

I'm actually the opposite. While I don't necessarily have to have a "chubby" guy, I will NOT date a muscular guy. Not only do I find even a little muscle or too thin a guy just not attractive (no offense to the thin guys out there!) but I actually am incredibly nervous around guys who just LOOK stronger than me (and probably are) because I'm very small, and I've been abused before, so avoiding the type of person who could break me in half has been a way of life for me LOL

My issue with extremely muscular men is that I know they spend more time in the gym than they'd want to spend with me.

I actually find muscular men nauseating. *L* That whole "washboard abs" thing? All my female friends will be sitting around drooling, and I'll be sitting there trying to hold back the vomit.

I don't know what it is. Maybe it's because I work in a gym and the majority of the guys I encounter who look like that are so full of themselves that they're completely disgusting anyway? I don't know. All I *do* know is that I do not find that look physically attractive in the slightest.

Not a fan of huge muscles or really skinny guys. Any from a little muscle to chubby is good for me.

I'm a big fan of muscles. What can I say? Heavily muscled is the sexiest body type in my opinion. But I also don't mind chubby guys. Lack of muscles isn't a deal-breaker.

I guess I've never met a muscular guy that I thought had a good personality, so I tend to stereotype them and whenever I meet a really fit and muscular guy, I assume he is going to be a jerk. I tend to go for average build or slightly overweight guys.

Nah, I like a little nice shape under the skin, but I don't like "puffy muscles" at all! ^^

No, not to me. I mean I'm not a hard body, flat stomached girl so that would be ridiculous for me to be so shallow toward men. A little muscle is nice but I'm not into body builders, rock hard, veins popping out bodies. I like some nice arms and shoulders, a sexy back. I've dated a guy on the chubby side and it didn't bother me.

My hubby isn't rail thin, but he's tall, and he has a good strong frame, and some meat on his bones. Not tons of definition, but when you touch him, you know he can swing an axe, do lots of pushups and pick up heavy things. I like muscles, but they need to be real muscles earned through work. Or even earned through strength training, but training that is done because it's fun and good for you, not because it makes you look good. I don't have alot of taste for muscles that are only meant to be pretty.

I prefer slim males. I don't care much if they're muscular. Just my aesthetic preference.

I like some definition, not bulky though.

I'm going to agree with Jaimes here. My husband is 5'7" and is slender and although he doesn't have 6 pack abs or anything he's muscular from doing martial arts for many years (he's a black belt) and working hard labor jobs in the past. It's not something that he went to the gym and acquired to look good, but something he just has.

My very best friend is right at 6' and he's also slender with muscles made from being in the USMC and working construction jobs. It's not something he went out to acquire, but he has a very nice athletic build with a strong runners body. He thinks he's too small, but I think he's perfect.

I love men with some definition and tone but they don't have to be super muscular. My husband is slender(the right amount of slender) and has muscle tone and definition and that's sexy to me.

Not into muscles very much. My first and current boyfriend is naturally really thin and without much muscle definition. I tend to prefer nerdy guys, not ones who hang out in the gym a lot. Weight doesn't bother me much, I'm just not very attracted in really muscular guys.

My wife really likes when I stay in shape. She would be a lot less attracted to me if I were in poor condition.

I like athletic guys, healthy-looking and with some muscle definition. Professional weightlifter types freak me out - they just look so unnatural! It is a strong preference, but I wouldn't say it's a deal-breaker if the guy is chubby or extremely muscular.

I like a good amount of muscle(but only on my man) and nothing extreme, I can’t stand the look of pro wrestlers and stuff.

Honestly, I don't really care for guys with a lot of muscles. I'd rather take the slightly toned tall guy over someone who is beefed up with muscles.. I've actually gotten a bit creeped out by a few guys with huge muscles. I'm just not attracted to them either. I love my boyfriend's skinny frame which makes it hard to judge his actual weight and that he's not interested in getting any big amount of muscle. He just wants to be toned and healthy.
