Do You Know When Your Ovulating??

Contributor: hybridinsurge hybridinsurge
Not a clue. I don't really pay attention. Since I use birth control, I don't need to know to try to avoid pregnancy.

Nope! But I can feel my cycle coming on a full day or two before hand.

I can feel when my cycle's about to start, about a day or so before, but I've never been able to tell when ovulation begins.

Kind of. The MyDays app on my phone tells me what my high fertility days are, and the supposed actual day of ovulation. The only problem is I'm crazy irregular as it is so I have no idea whether it's accurate, or not.

Yes! I'm hornier and pissier than normal, and get a lot of clear discharge.

I don't always pay attention, but I can usually tell when I am taking note of physical, behavioral, and emotional changes. I also track my cycles using mymonthlycycles.com and a set of cyclebeads I made, so it's hard for me to not know.

Mirena doesn't stop ovulation, it thins the uterine wall so that the egg and sperm can't get stuck there.

And yes. I get so very horny. I also learned about tracking mucus last fall, and since I've known about it, it makes it so very obvious!

It's pretty straightforward. From the planned parenthood site:

During your period, your flow covers the mucus signs.
After your period, there are usually a few days without mucus. These are called "dry days." These may be safe days if the cycle is long.
When an egg starts to ripen, more mucus is produced. It appears at the opening of the vagina. It is generally yellow or white and cloudy. And it feels sticky or tacky.
Usually, you will have the most mucus just before ovulation. It looks clear and feels slippery — like raw egg white. When it can be stretched between the fingers, it is called spinnbarkeit — German for stretchable. These are the "slippery days." It is the peak of your fertility.
After about four slippery days, you may suddenly have less mucus. It will become cloudy and tacky again. And then you may have a few more dry days before your period starts. These are also safe days."

Why weren't we all taught that when we were 12?!?! Seems like that should be tucked in there with the period talk at some point. Are we really all that squeamish about our vaginas?

Definitely. I get super horny, lol. Another good indication is when you get wet, typically the fluid is more thin, clear, and "stringy" for lack of a better word.

I can even tell what side feels like someone is stabbing a needle in to me. The pain last about 6 seconds.

It doesn't always happen, but I seem to feel loneliest right around the time I'm supposed to be ovulating. Loneliness is a bit of an issue for me to begin with, so I wonder if it amps up during ovulation because my body wants *ahem* companionship, so the thought enters my mind more...

More rarely, I'll just get super-horny without any negative feelings. I like those days.

Lol not to be yucky or anything but i usually have a lot of vaginal secretion when I'm ovulating and i get really horny. So yeah it's kind of like "*thinks* aw damnit I'm ovulating aren't i...sigh" but yeah when i was on birth control pills I had an app that tracked it with my period.

I can read my physical signs, clearer skin, darker nipples, etc and because there will be a little pain low on my abdomen slightly to one side if I sneeze.

My body doesn't go by the standard 28 day schedule, so it's hard to pinpoint a date. I can always tell by my body though.

I almost always know. It's been a bit tricky since pregnancy since I seem to have fertile mucous off an on through out my cycle...my hormones are still a bit wonky, but usually a combo of fertile mucous, horniness and feeling good - I also notice I tend to dress a little more...inviting, or "done up" during the days leading up. I feel good, and want to look good - some subconcious way of attracting a baby daddy, I'm sure

Yes, but sometimes it's off and sometimes the signs can be misleading. But in general I have a good idea.
