For Ladies Only... Help!

Contributor: Alan & Michele Alan & Michele
Ok, totally freaking out here. Used a new vibe two nights ago (supposedly silicone), and within 1/2 hour noticed a burning sensation down there. Took a bath. The next morning, there was no discomfort on the outside anymore, but still a bit of burning inside. Now it's been 2 days, and still a bit of internal burning sensation. What to do?
There's no discharge, no itching, and I'm told that nothing smells funky or looks odd, but I can definitely feel it. Has anyone else had this happen? And if so, what can I do about it and how long does it last?

By the way, I *did* wash and rinse the toy very well before use, and I used a lube that I'd used on a different toy once before.

I wouldn't play with that toy again. You could potentially try some of Monistat's Soothing Care products. All the irritation I've had from toys has done away quickly. I would definitely see a doctor if it's still happening Monday morning but I tend to just wait on things (and not sure where you are but Americans are probably relegated to the ER this weekend cause of the holiday).

If I experienced those things, I'd bet I'd gotten a yeast infection, maybe from the toy irritating your insides or from trace amounts of soap on the toy. My yeast infections are usually manifested outside my vagina, though, but inner discomfort might signal the same thing for other people. If you don't think it's an abrasion, and you think it's an infection, an OTC treatment for yeast infections might work. Otherwise if you can stand it, I'd wait to see a doc about it. Hope you feel better. Sorry the toy didn't agree with you.

I think if it's still there by Monday you need to check with your Doctor about it. What kind of lubricant did you use? Type wise.

Thank you for your responses!
I'm thinking it's either abrasion or the lube, because by yeasties usually manifest outside as well, and tend to itch. There's none of that this time, and it's almost like its dry inside.
The lube was water-based, and it had parabens in it so that might have done it I guess. I'd only used it once before, and I didn't use much that first time because it was for a handjob days before (after which I rode him, so must've gotten at least *some* of the lube in me). Those are the only two times we've had a paraben lube though, and it did start to dry up a bit towards the end.

If you use the toy again, cover it with an unlubricated condom and put KY on it, or an equally pure lubricant. A large toy or one used too vigorously can cause some irritation or sloughing of the walls in the vaginal. Oral benadryl can help. Also, some lubes with glycerin can potentiate a yeast infection, and some people have allergic reactions to preservatives in lubes, that is why I suggest KY or its similacrum (like Walgreen's lube or Equate personal lubricant, CVS. Rite Aid or Long's brand).

I hope everything is doing okay now! I've had that happen to me before and it's usually one of a few things. It's either the new lube, new toy or new type of condom. If none of those apply then it's possible that it's friction or a dreaded yeast infection. I hate yeast infections with a passion! I try to avoid them at all costs! Either way, I hope you've figured out what the problem was so you can avoid it in the future! =)

All's well now. It turned out to be the lube after all, which caused a yeast infection. I'd only used the lube once before, and not in nearly the large amount that I used on this toy. Anyway, a few days of acidophilus cleared it right up, so I'm good now

Did you wash the toy before you used it? There could be some type of soap or film on it from the packaging or the factory. I would wash the toy and wait a little bit before using the toy again. When I used it again if I still had that sensation, I would stop using it. Maybe something inside the toy or silicone is irritating you and your allergic.

It definitely sounds like you are allergic to it. Don't use it again. Totally sucks though because silicone is GREAT!

I was thinking it might have been a friction burn. That can happen from vigorous rubbing with anything; toy, fingers etc and usually goes away within a few days if you take a rest from touching/rubbing the area.

As for the yeast, I am very sensitive with lubes as well. Was it water-based or other lube?

Maybe it could be from something else? Since you've used the lube before it's probably not from that. buy have you ever used a vibrator that's used out of that material as the one you just used? it could be what it's made of. I suggest using a different one if it is bad.
