Have you/would you have labiaplasty?

I'm most curious to hear from anyone who has had labiaplasty to know what the experience was like and if they are satisfied with the results.

I've been told by physicians (female) before that I have an ugly vulva: too fat, too hairy, lopsided and with long labia (one longer than the other).

I have to assume they are simply trying to sell me a new one, but no thanks.
I'll keep my "ugly" vulva.

I really see no reason for it. Possibly trade off all sensitivity so it would look more like a porn stars? No thanks - all vulvas are weird and ugly-looking to me, and I think most people who like them are far more pleased by making their lover feel wonderful than just looking at how picture perfect it is.

Except for women who have some sort of genital malformation, I don't understand why a perfectly healthy vulva should be cut up.

Oh wow..My first reaction is, "I can't believe anyone-least of all a physician-would say such a thing" but, knowing what I know about the medical profession and particularly their attitudes towards women, I'm not surprised.

And to answer the poll, I LOVE my vagina just the way it is. I would never change it, unless my labia were causing discomfort, which fortunately they don't.

That's messed up - no! Nobody is gonna cut my downstairs up, I love it the way it is.

Wow. The most my doctor has said is that it looks healthy.

I can't imagine having labiaplasty. If someone's going to see them, it should be someone who's not an asshole and wouldn't care what they looked like, anyway.

And, me, personally ? It's weird, but actually taking a good look at them over a mirror helped me be more comfortable. Sure, they're kinda funny, but meh.

I mean, sure, pornstars have surgery to make theirs look more like an unrealistic ideal - they also bleach their buttholes. Not gonna do that, either.

That's simply unbelievable! How horrible that a professional would be so rude and cruel! I'm so sorry you were subjected to that.

You have to understand that this has happened since I moved to Orange County, California, and most women's specialist clinics also perform cosmetic procedures (which they heavily advertise and push). I found a new doctor, though, and although they can't perform specialized procedures at her office, at least she is pleasant. :3

Well that puts a little perspective on it, and I'm glad you can see it's simply a sales pitch. Moreover, it's good to hear that you have found a good doctor who has more respect for their patients!

I produced an informational video for a plastic surgeon and filmed a labiaplasty. So, I personally have not had it done, but I have been in the room when the procedure has been done. This particular patient had very long outer labial folds and it would rub her when she walked and exercised causing irritation. The procedure was quick, tidy and she was awake during. When it was over she walked out, slowly mind you. She seemed very happy with the results. There are other reasons a woman would have this procedure other than just for aesthetics.

What! What kind of horribly physicians would be making aesthetic judgment remarks about your appearance?! I'm honestly shocked.

It's apparently fairly common where I live. Since moving here (Orange County), I've had another doctor completely discount my complaint by saying "You're fat, that's your problem."

I just shrug it off and go elsewhere. :/

My husband, after three kids and many many years of looking at it from every angle would still love to have mine photographed so he could hang it on his wall...he says it's the prettiest he's ever seen. He's seen quite a few so I guess he knows what he is talking about. Even Arch is happy with the look of my vulva, so I guess I'll keep it natural!

Now I would like to have my half cup size larger breast reshaped to match the right side....but that's more because it causes me problems wearing a bra and with back pain.

My labia is fine just the way it is. And so is yours. Anyone who tells you different is either a bitch or trying to sell you something.

I've had a horribly rude family practitioner before; I have no idea why people like that go through the years and debt that Med School requires if they don't want to treat patients as people :/

To answer the question; nope!

i would never. folks who tell you 'this is a perfect labia' and 'this is not' are twisted, if you ask me.

there is no perfect anything. all women look different downstairs. in that way, i guess our labia are all perfect. now, if you're like some women who have a hard time putting in tampons or with sex or whatever because the labia are so long they get caught in things and it causes you a great amount of distress, then maybe.

i just think i'd regret it and one day feel ashamed for having shamed my body to the point of thinking i needed to go under the knife to fix it. granted, this is all coming from someone who's labia are pretty tame, so i dont know what i'd say if i had been told they were ugly. hopefully the same thing! but one never knows.

i really recommend you check out the below website, if you havent. a british man created an artwork with plaster castings of hundreds of women's vulvas and they're all very unique and beautiful.
