No. Its not fair to generalize a whole gender. This has also in no way been my experience.

I'll introduce you to my ex-husband. He was too bone-idle to cheat. He was also too bone-idle to fuck me as well.

I've also tended to find guys who are into long-term relationships and want stability, so I've never had any cheating done to me.

Yep, that's a myth. I know first hand, along with several close friends/relatives that have never cheated.

There's no correlation between gender and the likelihood of cheating. It's just a sexist generalization made by those who have been scorned before. I've also often heard men saying that all women cheat, so the prejudice is two-way.

Agreed. A sexist myth that is insulting to everyone. No truth in it.

No, not all cheat.

Nope. It's as unfair and sexist to generalize men as it is to generalize women. Saying that all men cheat is like saying that women don't, which is also wrong. Cheating is a decision which is made by an individual, gender is immaterial. Also, as a side note, why limit this post to "ladies"? There are gay men, not to mention, gender queer, nonbinary, non gender folks, etc. on this board who date men and might have an opinion to share on this topic. Just food for thought.

Biology Time! Woot!

Biologically, human beings are a polyamorous species. Given the structure of society, culture, and resources, certain pair bondings (or group bonds) will differ. For example, in some cultures a man is able to have multiple female partners if he has the resources. He is able to provide and procreate with each woman.

There are (less common, but present), other societies where resources are scarce and more than two people on average are needed to raise a child. In this situation, usually male cousins or relatives will work together and have one wife.

Overall? Our current culture emphasizes monogamy. Our ancestors were polyamorous. Males would tend to mate with other females after about 4 years (when a child could move around on its own and had a higher chance to survive). One strategy for a male then would be to mate with as many females as possible, but if the children do not survive, he has gained nothing. That is why men back then (on average) stuck around to care for the offspring and raise the chances of the children surviving.

What does this mean? Genetically, men have more of a drive to mate with more partners, while women have more a disposition to prefer mates with more resources!

Definitely not. That's mostly a stereotype against men.

definitely a myth. I would love to know the percentages of women vs men who cheat (though could you imagine being that pollster?!)

Getting into zoology, many species that are typically categorized as monogamous (including the famous example of wolves) in fact only practice social monogamy - true sexual monogamy across an entire species is extremely rare and usually involves one or both parties dying right afterwards.

Like Mwar said, males tend to mate with more partners. Females, similarly, might pick out at least two: a fatherly mate with good territory and enough strength to protect his family, and one (or more) who, to put it bluntly, is "sexy," having more attractive coloration, a more exciting disposition, being younger and more energetic, etc. The strong, reliable male ends up caring for young that may not be his own, instead fathered by someone flashier. How frequently this occurs depends on the species in question and the resources available - more food generally means more straying.

So basically: monogamy as humans think of it is largely unimportant to mother nature. But this still doesn't mean that everybody cheats. While sexual monogamy may be rare across an entire species, any given individual within a species practicing social monogamy may very well practice sexual monogamy as well.
