Have you ever used a Vinegar Douche?

Contributor: RedGlitter RedGlitter
Hello!
I have heard of using vinegar to douche, but I've never personally done it...I have actually never douched.

I would like to know if you have tried it or if there is a reason you don't use it.
Thanks for the help!!

I don't because a few of my Doctors are against douching. I get bacterial vaginosis and yeast infections very easily, and was told douching would throw off my vagina's natural pH and could add to either of those issues. I've also read that douching can push bacteria too close to the cervix, and possibly lead to pelvic inflammatory disease. All of these cons has just turned me off of douching all together. Since switching to a fragrance free soap that doesn't have other ingredients that would upset my pH, I don't really have an odd smell that would lead me to want to douche anyway.

I hope that helps.

I have never done it and I don't douche. I wash around my outer areas, but don't douche. Doowop is right. It does throw off the balance of your vagina's natural pH and makes you prone to infections.

Really, it's best to avoid douching. Like doowop and Ayumi said, doing so upsets your natural pH balance and messes with the good bacteria living inside your vagina. Even rinsing with regular water can cause issues, so I can't imagine a vinegar douche being very good for you.

Besides, a healthy vagina is self-cleaning, so there's really no need to help it along.

As already stated, douching upsets your natural pH and could lead to infections. If you want a good wipe to use you can try summer eve since it is pH balanced.

I concur. I have used summer's eve's wipes, but only when I have my period and I am out at internship for like 12 hours and there is no hope of arriving at a shower any time soon.

True!

Thanks for all the info; I know it seems like I have a problem with my PH, so that's why I was looking into it.

I am NOW using ph BALANCED soap, thought my OTHER feminine soap was balanced, apparently NOT :/
THANKS AGAIN!!

Just a quick comment, I personally would recommend not using any kind of soap in that area. Rin's comment is an important one. The vagina is self cleanly and anything that isn't naturally there messes with things.

I agree with everyone else. No douche! If you're having pH problems, may I recommend eating more "living" fermented foods and less sugars and starches? Whenever I feel a pH tickle, I try eating whole foods for a few days, just veggies and rice and kim chee and yogurt, no bread or sugar or pasta, and after a few days it always seems to balance out again. Then I can go back to my ice cream addiction!

bogs I concur!
I have my worst weeks when I am eating like pasta every day.

There are a lot more natural ways to deal with this problem and you should track what you eat and see how your diet is. I am more in favour of natural methods that often help your skin too!
