What brand of menstrual cup do you use?

Contributor: Do-Re-Mi Do-Re-Mi
Over the past few years reuseable menstral cups have been popping up all over the place. I know the most popular cup in the US is the Diva Cup, but there are so many other great brands out there with all different shapes and sizes to fit all different body types. I had a not so good experience with the Diva Cup (my cervix sits too low during my period for the Diva to work) before I found out that there were other brands that come in all sorts of sizes and styles. I found my holy grail in the Fleurcup, and have also been wanting to try out a Lunette or MeLuna.

What brand of cup do you use? Feel free rave about your favorites and specify what type of cup from whichever brand you like the best.

Also if you don't know anything about cups but want to this blog has a lot of really great information on them and this livejournal community is a great place to go with any questions about cups.

I use the Diva Cup, and aside from needing to cut off the stem (which I likely would need to do with any cup, as I'm rather "short" down there) it's been awesome. I've turned into a total cup enthusiast since making the switch, and wouldn't mind trying some other brands down the line to see if any of them work even better - maybe Ladycup (which comes in a very pretty light blue, hahaha!), or MeLuna (which comes in a stemless style).

That's awesome that the Diva worked for you, I know a lot of people really love it. And I know what you mean about wanting to try other brands. It's like you have a cup that works great for you but then you see all the other pretty ones and want them all. And with brands like MeLuna with so many styles and colors, I want to try them all! I also heard that when you buy from MeLuna's website they usually send you a second cup for free!

I haven't tried the reusable one, but I love the disposable Instead cups!

I've yet to use those but I've heard great things. I have a friend who uses a diaphragm completely loves Instead cups. She said the they go in pretty much the same way.

I also use the Diva Cup. It works great for me, but I'm also totally curious about how other cups work, and which other cups would work for me... all that jazz. I'd also like to try some of the ones that come in cute colors, since the Diva Cup is just clear.

I know the Diva Cup says it sits lower then other cups but pretty much all of them work the same. It really just comes down to size, firmness, and, in the case of MeLuna, material. Even thought the Diva is considered one of the softer cups I think my problem with the Diva Cup was the firmness. When it would open it'd snap my cervix like a rubberband. The Fleurcup (I use both the large and the small depending on my flow that day) is a lot softer so while it took a little while longer to figure out the quickest way to get it to open it was totally worth it for me in the long run. But for people who are really athletic or have super strong pelvic floor muscles a firmer cup works better because their muscles squish the softer cups.

I use the Moon Cup UK. I've also tried the Keeper Moon Cup, but I like the UK one better. They are completely different companies, in case anyone didn't know that. However, it's been so long since I switched to the UK, I've forgotten why I liked it better.

Diva cup or disposable Instead cups depending on where I'm going, what I'll be doing, and where my cervix is. Sometimes the Diva sits too high so I switch to the Insteads. Or sometimes I'll be somewhere for a while that I'm not able to wash my cup.

I use the Diva Cup since that's all my local co-op carries but I absolutely love it! Once I need to buy a new cup, I may look into other brands but I'm happy with the Diva Cup

I quite liked my Diva Cup. 100% worth the cost, and never caused me any stress! Much, MUCH easier than pads or tampons.

I've tried MoonCup (didn't sit well) and Diva Cup (had to trim the stem to practically nothing), but I prefer the disposable ones, primarily because I don't use them often and they're a hassle to carry around and clean all the time (especially when I'm out, because I'm a heavy bleeder). I use SoftCup and Instead whenever I can. They're really handy and I can toss them in the zipper pocket of any purse, even my tiny clutch purses, and you can't see them like you do the larger, formed, reusable ones.

I use Ladycups (I have two...a small and large...but I hardly ever use the smaller one). I hope to get a Lunette in the future some time. I absolutely love menstrual cups. I have been using them for years and think they are so amazing But, like Holly Wood said, they can be a hassle to clean in public and especially if you have heavier flows. I had one almost drop on me once!

I've been using Diva Cups for a few years and my only complaint is that the ridge around the rim makes it hurt a little when I take it out. Also the whole cleaning it in public thing, but that's not specific to the Diva Cup.

I use the diva cup, but it's a bit too long for me, it sticks out of me too far. I might try out the moon cup eventually because I hear it's smaller.

I've used MeLuna, tried it once and it didn't want to open fully, it also felt uncomfortable (like cramping up & being on the verge of peeing)

I do plan on trying different brands: The Femmycycle (which has a weird lip that you can invert while cleaning so that your menstruation doesn't spill everywhere) & The Ruby Cup (For each Ruby Cup you buy online they donate one to a schoolgirl in Kenya)

My only problem with menstrual cups is that each on comes with a learning curve. They are great for the environment, save money, & they're supposed to make you feel like you're not wearing a diaper full of blood. So hopefully I'll find one that works for me soon.
