What do you call your period?

Contributor: Chilipepper Chilipepper
I've been calling it Moontime since high school. "That" Time of the Month is also used. Or just plain Period. Although I have called it (during particularly difficult cycles) "God's a Misogynist Prick Event".

I remember coming across a reference to it in the Oz Books (surprisingly) and Dorothy Gale commenting that she wouldn't be able to have a Monthly Visitor because her house is just too small.

One of my friends who is a lay monastic and professionally writes about the spiritual motifs of the Harry Potter universe calls her period "Voldemort" (because it's painful and leaves a Dark Mark).

I say "on my period" usually, but between just my partner and I it's "I'm sick". When we were in school and didn't have a lot of private time, this let us talk about it without having everyone know my business.

i first got my period at age 14 and I thought it was a skidmark! i was so embarassed, not be3cause of thye period- which i had been waiting for since i was 11 and used to wear a maxipad under my leggings to 'fake' it so I seemed more mature. when i got it I was so glad it hadn't come earlier since it became such a hassle. in my twenties I was so skinny (5'6 1/2 inches- 102 lbs) that I lost it for 5 years. now its back and I'm hoping that I somehow held onto those eggs that I didn't release cause I'm 35 and running out of time to get pregnant

I usually just say "on the rag" or "on my period." I don't like using things negative connotations, because I don't view my period that way.

The one I most use, "I am being reminded that I am a girl". To which the best reply was, "like you could forget?"

My students, when we talk about our bodies and such, I always have to chuckle when I see their faces, they forget that a period is not just found at the end of a sentence. No wonder why English is confusing!!! LOL!!!

I "have" my period, or I'm on the rag, or its shark week, or my uterus is trying to kill me, or it's anal and blowjob week =p

Sometimes I don't call it anything, I just say "I started today." The other thing I say is "I'm a raging hormone," which is tricky because it can also mean I have PMS or had a bad night with night sweats last night or it just means leave me alone cause I'm cranky!

I'll usually say "I'm cursed" or "out of commission"....other terms of endearment include:

I'm ragging
I'm bleeding out
It's shark week
I'm hemorrhaging
My uterus is crushing itself
I'm imploding
I'm a crampire
I'm Carrie
I'm out of order

Ah, yes, thank you for reminding me - in fact, I had to say this one last night when an old FWB (not Mulder) asked if I'd come over:

"I'm closed for business this week."

I jokingly say "I'm bleeding out my sniz!" Though, usually only around my partner.

Usually it's "I'm on my period" or "Having my period". Though, I had to tick off the llama one because it made me laugh.

I usually say that I'm on my period or it's that time of the month.I don't use the term that time of the month often because that would imply that I have them every month,I'm lucky if I have one six times in a year.
