Curious here of what people do to set the mood. I don't get to ask many of my friends this kind of thing. So, tell, in detail if you'd like what you do to get things going!

Personally, I like soft light, maybe a lamp with a colored fabric over it to set a nice mood, and some candles. Satin sheets are a plus.

My boy is coming home from Iraq soon and I'm looking for more ideas

I don't ever set the "mood", my partner normally does it. But being a guy I know what I like. My advice is more pre-"mood".

I LOVE when my partner dresses sexy/skimpy ie lingerie, or something that shows off her body/curves. I absolutely go crazy when she is just doing normal things like watching T.V. or working in the kitchen while wearing lingerie. It makes me extremely horny before sex because its like a Christmas present on Christmas eve, you see it and you want it but you cant have it. Its very teasing to me. Every mans different though.

I usually start when he gets home from work, I "accidentally" bump into him, brush up against him in tight spaces (or often when there is plenty of room) make eye contact and then walk away, touch his face a lot, kiss him spontaneously. I don't know, I never really go through any long-term planning to get in the mood. If I don't feel like sex, I don't have it. If I do, I make out with and fondle my boyfriend for a bit and hop on.

That said, having sex to music in total darkness can be wonderfully intense.

Although one of his favorite ways for me to set the mood is sometimes I'll tell him to go shower so I can smell his soap on him when we go to bed, and then while he's in the shower I'll put on some lingerie and some boots and light some candles and wait on the bed for him to come back in. Gets him every single time.

Sometimes I am horribly socially awkward and unsexy. When those times happen I simply plop my hand on his package. Other times I am seductive and say and do more sexy things.
If I have time and I want to put the effort into it I sometimes get dressed up in some sexy lingerie or a school girl outfit.
Other than that I really don't do much, I already have my satin comforter so satin sheets would not work too well. I don't light candles usually. I don't really plan it, I like things being spontaneous.

Well, normally I don't really set the mood, it just kind of happens.

But if it's a special night sometimes we'll just start with massages, a romantic movie, a shower together, candles lit..something like that.

P'Gell - you are right on target. I love setups that are hours ahead of the main event. Bumping, nipping, pat on the ass, back or neck rub. When it gets closer sometimes we'll do candles, I'll set out a LolaLuna micro-g or Sylvie Monthule intimate jewelry that I haven't seen for a while.

Sometimes though - we just just whip back the covers, throw our Liberator Throe on the bed and dive in with limbs and tongues wagging!

I'm kinda surprised at the drop your drawers comments. Like many men getting started I need some serious visual stimuli. But the mind is still the primary sex organ - so the sexting or close-quarters tease - whether subtle or overt are great tools to get both lovers on the same page.

It also useful if my partner isn't feeling up to it for her to let me know. That way I'm not all wired for some fun just to get the 'sorry I've got a head ache' rejection. Better to know sooner than later.

Strangely enough, it's my partner that sets the mood. LOL Normally it's the girl that does!

Anyway, he usually will light scented candles and turn off the lights. Sometimes he'll use our rope lights to add ambient lighting if we want/need more than candle light.

If I'm the one doing it, sometimes I'll just grab him by the scruff of the shirt and drag him to the bedroom. Other times I'll put on some lingerie and walk around in it, so he can see me.

A third thing that sort of sets the mood for both of us is erotic photography. We both enjoy he, he being the photographer, me being the photographee. So sometimes if we take some shots that'll get the juices flowing too.

Ooh I need to get some rope lights or something. Mike likes to leave the lights on but I hate to have blinding light in my eyes. Maybe we need some mood lighting or something, and since we can't use candles much because the "flickering" gets to him, maybe some rope lights would work nicely

Oh we love our rope lights! The ones we have right now are purple and the add an incredible ambiance, plus they're excellent for sensual photography. They're also pretty cheap, usually $10 or so for a 6 foot string. ...or at least they were the last time I bought them about 8 years ago... lol

Yea, the light is bright enough to see, but dim enough to not be anything like regular lighting. Highly suggest them!
