What do you use for your Moon cycle? (aka period)

Contributor: DreamWolf DreamWolf
I have heard about the cups what I don't think I would ever want to use...

What is your way you find the best, having a strong opinion about why it is best?

I just got a Lunette but haven't had the chance to use it yet. I HATE pads, and tampons are so expensive!

I'm trying to save up for a Diva Cup. I currently use pads, which tend to irritate me by day three, and tampons never seem to catch anything.

(I thought I was the only one to refer to That Time as 'Moon Cycle' and 'Moon Time'. Awesome.)

I use a Lunette cup, and it's possibly the greatest thing in the world. I've already saved over $100 dollars on pads, and thinking about how many pads I was throwing into the landfill before I got it just makes me sick. It's so comfortable I barely remember it's there half the time, and it doesn't irritate me like pads used to. I have to empty and clean it twice a day (more often on the first two days) and that's it. I can go about my life without having to worry about bleeding on anything, because I know how long I can wear it without it getting too full, and I have a few cloth pads to wear just in case.

There is a bit of a learning curve at the very beginning for taking it out, putting it in and getting it positioned, but after that, it's super easy and hassle free.

I use the Diva Cup and I have never had a leak.

I'm an avid Diva Cup user. The only time I've ever had any leak is when it gets too full. That doesn't happen very often, and then even when it leaks it's just a few tiny drops, not a gusher like when tampons leak.

Also I like knowing how much I'm bleeding, and the cups all have the graduated markings measuring the amount. If you're someone who passes clots and tissue, the cup collects all that beautifully too!

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww !!!

Well, it is our unique thing Mama Nature gave us to get all purified, also, it is a period of purifying your mind too...

In many Native American tribes it was the time for the women when they didn't hang out with any males, only with females, often spending those days separated, in a place called "Moon Lodge", and those days are to focus on your connection with the universe, a kind of meditating phase when you lead you thoughts towards things what count more... That's why it isn't adviced to mate with anyone too, and in many other religions the blood your body gets rid of is considered to be "bad", something what your body wants to lead out of you...
It is also said that blood is the "soul of the body", and that your entire personality is within your blood, that's why there is that big fuss about sucking blood for the vampire natures, because like how they can feed on your energies, they also get your very own personal tunes from your blood... (I gave up on such things too, used to LOVE sucking blood through people's lips, and was all hooked on the whole energy thing, and you can "shield yourself" from the bad parts of what you take in, but why to bother... It's like a connection between two people, and I wanna connect only with my Master... ^^)
Also, in some Native American tribes females weren't even allowed to touch food and cook, if someone touched the food the female on her Moon cycle touched the person, finding out what (s)he touched, was all weirded out, as it was considered to be "bad medicine" I guess... So chickas had to stay away from such "domestic bliss"...
Not to mention... In the days of the Moon cycle hormones can be raging like crazy, that's why some females get all emotional (like me, oh if you knew...! ), stressed, sentimental, skin getting more sensitive, chicka getting horny as hell, oh and some are almost crazy, so easy to hurt their feelings, so they argue, they fuss, they growl, no wonder males tried to stay away from them as much as possible, so the whining yowling ladies could whine to their female friends who were pampering their fragile delicate little soul... ~lol

So it is so cool to hear that I am not the only one who doesn't stick up anything like tampons and just uses pads (my theory: if something has to go in it should be for PLEASURE!), I don't venture into matings in those days anymore like I used to with so many people not caring a bit, it's a cleaning cycle, so it is for being with yourself in your mind a little bit, then after it I am all hyped up cause looks like my body knows that the waiting is over, so I tremble and yowl and RUSSSSSSSSSSSSH to get my Master's Loving Attention as much as I can have a grab of It!!! ^^

So blood cups, nope, I don't want to keep the "bad blood" inside, as it is full of stuff your body tries to get rid of (like if you were drinking a lot of green tea to clean your blood, or eat cabbage soup, or only rice and water for a week), and full of your growly and stressed and sad emotions, I just wanna let it go as quick as possible!

Since I got my Mirena IUD, I don't get a period anymore (SCORE!), but I did use the Diva Cup. There is nothin better than menstrual cups!! There are all sorts of cups, so you should look around to see which brand works for you, but my diva cup was so so so comfortable and easy to use, and I only had leaks just once in a blue moon!

Ditto on using a Mirena IUD and no longer having a period, which is awesome. I used to use tampons with pantiliners to catch leaks.

i use a mooncup and it completely changed my period for me. it's incredible and i absolutely love it. can't believe i didn't know about this earlier.

i can take it anywhere, camping or traveling, and don't have to worry about stocking up on expensive tampons, and i don't have to take anything with me to the bathroom, or pack tampons and pads around with me everywhere i go, just one little cup and i'm ready. it's eco friendly, it is comfy, it holds more blood than a tampon... i absolutely love it.

i tell all my friends who'll listen about them.

yay you got a lunette!! dont forget to cut the stick off at the bottom. it's there for folks who're afraid they're going to lose it inside themselves, but it's unnecessary and irritating, allowing you to feel the cup and uncomfortably so while inserted. just cut it off flush with the base and you're good to go. don't forget to clean it out at least 2x a day - you can get a bacterial infection from leaving the blood sitting in you for hours.

also, google the 'c-punch method, menstrual cup' for instructions on how to fold it to insert it. be sure to bear down with your PC muscles like your'e trying to pee, during insertion and extraction.

to remove it, bear down and i like to grab the bottom of the cup and kinda push it back, so the top lip comes fwd, releasing the seal. i then pull it out kinda sideways i guess.

it does take some practice but dont be discouraged. if it feels like it's leaking, remove and replace it.

you will have bubbles shortly after insertion from time to time. it doesnt always mean it's going to leak.

mine leaked a few times lightly in the first few months, but nothing a pantiliner couldn't handle.

good luck!! hope you love it.

I use a keeper cup and I love it. I rarely get any leaks and there are a bunch of positive reasons to use it and no negative (for me anyways).
