I thought I'd share our story with you so you know a bit more about us. Hopefully, it will encourage you in your relationship.
We were married at the "ever-wise" ages of 18 and 20. I was basically getting married to run away from home and feeling like "damaged goods" because we'd slept together. He was getting married...well...becau se it was the thing to do.
Not the greatest reasons to get and/or stay married - right?
But God has blessed our marriage (in spite of ourselves) and we're still together over 30 years later.
We've gone through many periods of "I hate you" or "I'm bored by you" or "Why in the world am I still married to you" - oftentimes followed by longer periods of "I love you" or even better, "oh my God...I even like you too".
We find that God is faithful to us as we are faithful to each other and that He honors our commitment to stay together through thick and thin (currently its thick...oh wait - we're not talking about weight).
We recently discovered sex toys and our marriage has gone from feast or famine (with lots of period of famine) to feast or famine but with the famine lasting 3-4 days instead of weeks and weeks.
Adding toys to our marriage has actually enhanced ALL of our communication skills as we've learned to talk more about what we like and don't like and being willing to try new things.
I hope our story encourages you. We're still together not because we're great or have a great marriage - but because we have a great God and He seems to bless our faithfulness to each other and Him.
