I've got tons. Seriously, like almost 50 bottles in the basement of homemade stuff, and a whole bunch more bottles floating around the house. I collect them. And I'm really bad about it, lol

It was, in my estimation, the nastiest and most violent story of the book, but very, very sexy. It was set in Bangkok, at a very fancy hotel and involved a Thai vampire and two British tourists.

People often talk about how hot it was, but no ... more
What did you personally find terrifying about it if you don't mind me asking?

OH. ok, now I know exactly which one you mean. It's the only one that, if I remember correctly, featured flat out human death as well. It was on the gory side and would make an awesome horror film short.

Yes, that's right. And Julia, that's what I was talking about.

No one actually dies "on camera" as it were, but you know they aren't making it out alive and it really is terrifying. But the vampire is so sexy that, even they know they are about to die, they don't really care.

I thought it was an incredibly powerful story, but it still gives me the willies. (Willies--must be the pomegranate talking...)

I think that kind of dark and violent story only works (for me) when we're talking paranormal stuff. If that was just your random hot guy (Christian Bale in American Psycho?) killing people, I wouldn't find it at all erotic. But it's an excellent story that really explores the dark nature of vampire fiction.

Beer is a lot like wine, you can't just have one and judge the rest of them. So if you don't like one, move on to another type

D.L. ~ When you set out to put together an erotic vampire collection, what criteria were you looking for in the stories you selected?

I've never been a really huge drinker either, and by huge drinker, I mean I don't drink often. When I do it's normally a get together of some kind and I usually end up killing a bottle of wine by myself, lol

You guys do know that Kristina's in the book, don't you? She wrote the story, "Cutter." What a different sort of vampire story, and so atmospheric! Ask her about it!

Hi Kristina,

I wasn't really looking for any specific criteria, other than well written/crafted stories that were smoking hot. I'm an erotica writer and editor and I'm all about the hot sex. I don't usually write erotic romance, because I'm not always that interested in the romance side--not that I have anything against love--and I have written some pretty romantic stories.

But for this book, and all the anthologies I've edited, I was looking for just plain hot stories.

I got some amazing stuff, which I think you'll see when you read the book, and it's all actually quite diverse. I think that even though the stories are diverse, they make for a really interesting and, somehow, cohesive book.

I think the bottom line is, I know it when I see it. I'm putting the finishing touches on a new anthology for Cleis press, Carnal Machines: Erotic Steampunk. It's the same thing: a real variety, all hot, but somehow quite cohesive.
