I wasn't really looking for any specific criteria, other than well written/crafted stories that were smoking hot. I'm an erotica writer and editor and I'm all about the hot sex. I don't usually write erotic ... more
I think that diversity in stories is really nice, because it gives us a break sort of, if that makes sense, and we're not just reading something that's in essence, the same story over and over again. I'd rather skip a story or two I didn't personally find all that appealing than have every single story be basically the same.

Phew! Caught up. So far, I need to netflix Being Human and apparently everybody is drunk tonight. Is this the kind of party you guys throw when I'm not here??

Kristina, please tell me where you got the idea for "Cutter." It was (also) a very haunting read, due to the subject matter.

Don't worry, there's a few of us that haven't been drinking

Lovely! I was hoping you'd mention the steampunk collection. Would you like to explain what steampunk is and what kinds of stories we'll find in that collection?

I'm not drunk either. I have ice cream though.

I'm curious what a steampunk collection would be. Hmm.

You're the designated drivers, right? Good, I'll need one.

Actually, I'm thinking about going downstairs to lose some money for a little while and then come back before the end of the chat. I am in Las Vegas, after all...

I'd be curious about the steampunk collection as well.

I wasn't going to submit to The Sweetest Kiss because I didn't feel like I could say anything original. Vampire stories are everywhere (and I love it!!), but they are freakin' HARD to write. But then I just couldn't stop thinking about the anthology and how cool it would be to be included. So... I started thinking about what vampires desire most and who might be a perfect match for a vampire. I came up with my protagonist, a very troubled young woman who is a cutter-- someone who cuts herself. She craves the pain and the visual of her own blood running... but a cutter has to be careful, not cut too deeply or too often. So I paired her with a vamp who has the power to heal her wounds.

In the end, I loved the story I came up with and felt like it was something original, which was really my only goal (along with being erotic). "Cutter" is actually one of favorite stories I've written and I was absolutely delighted it was included in The Sweetest Kiss!

I really want to read this story, now. I can't wait to own this book. I'm always so behind on these discussions, lol. I just started my November book, I've been dying for this particular one since I saw the name last month, lol

You obviously don't realize how drunk I am. But, here goes...

Steampunk is usually set in Victorian Britian and it's sort of "Science fiction meets the industrial revolution." Think Jules Verne, H. G. Wells and Arthur Conan Doyle. It's easy to add the erotic into the mix, right? Tightly laced corsets, Dirigibles, electricity...

I'm still waiting to hear back from the publisher on the final choice of stories. I sent in what I think is a masterful collection of stories, each hotter than the next but, like The Sweetest Kiss, all very diverse (there's a lot of femdom because that's what I'm into--could you tell?) but I can't really tell you much about the stories until I get the go ahead from the publisher.

Here's a little secret that not a lot of people know: the book is listed for pre-sale on Amazon...with a cover! You can check it out.

Wow, this sounds like a really great read, mostly because it is definitely different than what you would expect a vampire story to be like. I'm very interested to read, now (as if I weren't before, ha).

I'm going to have to recommend this one to my friends. They really have a fetish for steampunk. I've never been too fond of it, but maybe this book can change my mind.

Kathleen just gave me a really good quote about what Steampunk is: It's what happens when goths discover brown. How cool is that?

Now I must really go downstairs for a bit. I'll be back, I promise! This is too much fun.

I really like steampunk, especailly the new kind of "renaissance" that's come about lately. When new technology mingles with old fashioned ideals and machinations, it makes for a brilliant concept and storyline.

She'd look hotter without the glasses, but I really like that the cover is relatively discreet. I could read this in public.
