There's something so enticing about this rebel, lawless girl seducing two Holy Rollers. I love the temptation.

Back to the narration itself, the story is just so well written. "The dumb, miniature replica of Big Ben sounded again. Ignoring it, I bowed low before the coffee god & sucked." I knew I was going to love this story, and the main character, after reading that line near the beginning. Lol!

I felt symptoms of withdrawal after finishing Girls On Top.
I was practically whimpering, "Really.. no more?" *Pouts*

Ugh, they don't always just come banging down your door though. I remember one particularly annoying encounter where my honey & I were taking a walk & two Jehovah's Witnesses on bikes (or Holy Rollers as we call them) came up behind us. We moved out of their path so they could ride on, but they just pulled up beside us, one flanking us, and pedaled at an agonizing pace all the while trying to talk to us about God. After being harassed and followed for a few blocks, we finally ran across the street to lose the suckers.

Central Registry & The HOstage were by far the two best stories in the book, in my honest opinion.

I also really adored High-Speed Wireless, Metamorphosis, New York Peep Show, The Morning Trade, ... more
I loved "The Morning Trade" because of it's coffee theme-- it's about a barista and the name of the coffee shop is Bean There, which is also the name of a local coffee shop.

I've had them come to my office and ask to leave pamphlets in the common areas. As much as they were polite, I find it odd that they were campussing an industrial/office park. I would think it's fairly common knowledge that nowadays most companies would frown on that because it could offend some people, be considered politically incorrect to allow them but not all other religions, etc. - basically seems like a workplace lawsuit waiting to happen to me.

I believe Girls On Top would make a suitable book to read together. However, it seems more like a guilty pleasure to me. Something you can sit down & indulge in when you have a little time to yourself. I know my honey read one or two of the stories, but mostly I commandeered the book & cozied up somewhere by my lonesome.

It is very well written. Candice is a hero. (had to look her name up lol) When she told them she'd puke on them if they didnt get off her doorstep I thought this is freakin awesome cause I'd never speak those words outloud even though I may think them in my head.

Can you imagine handing them a copy of "Central Registry" in exchange for their pamphlet?

Female sexual empowerment for me meant going around in a circle from first realizing that I could "go out and get what I want" and then realizing (eventually) that what I "wanted" was to be the one that someone else went out and got.

It was good to know I could be the initiator or the aggressor, but I had to learn enough about myself to realize that not being an initiator and not being a "top" did not mean I was a wimp or that I bought into the programming of the "passive female."

I just loved it because of the suggestive nature of the couple, and the twisty goodness at the end.

I have a particular piece of jewelry that I flash along with a choice phrase that usually gets rid of them PDQ.

My thing is you can't force your beliefs on anyone. All you can do is state your case and then move on. People have the right to say they aren't interested and they should in turn respect that and move on to someone else.

I love how she kind of picks on the shier one, yet has a fondness for him at the same time.
"They glanced nervously at each other. I'd obviously put them off their stride. The smaller, quiet one looked down at my feet again. He was my favorite." That line made me !

I am curious - because Violet Blue has surprised me by always teaching me something I didn't know with her Smart Girl's Guides - for those who read the book, what did you learn from the Smart Girl's Guide to the G-spot?

Lol, are you some form of Pagan? That usually does the trick.
I don't play the religion card, mainly because I'm not really religious. I just have a certain set of beliefs that aren't particularly conventional to the average shmoe.

The last straw when they were pestering us was when my honey said "We're really not the sort of people to be preaching to about God", and one of the Holy Rollers turned to us in what I assume was supposed to be an intimidating manner, and inquired, "Oh yeah, why's that?" I wanted to say 'because we're technically lesbians. Because my partner is Transgendered and is getting gender reassignment surgery. Because I review sex toys, & write about vagina's. And also because Christianity has slaughtered and tortured millions of people in the name of this 'God' you speak of.' Instead, we avoided confrontation & jaywalked our happy asses across the street. Ah, how much more interesting life could be, if I thought less & talked more.

I don't know if the g-spot orgasm is the ultimate in female sexual liberation. In fact, Violet Blue basically says that's a silly idea. I think it is too - sexual liberation is enjoying yourself - not all people enjoy g-spot orgasms.

I have no problem with the word "girls" instead of woman. I think it sounds better for book titles.

What's the phrase-- "topping from the bottom"-- that reminds me of women who go for what they want sexually, regardless of whether they're acting as the dominant or not.

I know that phrase is sometimes used negatively, but I fully embrace it. I allow myself and my sexual wants to be complex; I don't need to explain myself or how or why I'm doing it.

I totally do this.. My sweetie laughs at me because I want him to be dominant & take control, but often times I need to tell him what to do & instruct him. He often says I'm "topping from the bottom".

I think the G-spot has gotten so much attention, both positive and negative, that it ends up being portrayed as the "ultimate" in a lot of texts. I love how Violet approaches the topic if a very practical, "here is what you need to know" way. No mystique, just helpful information (and scorching stories by Alison Tyler).

I agree. What would make a G-spot orgasm any more liberating than a clitoral one even if a girl did find both to be equally enjoyable?
