I use the "comments" section on my wall for everyday chats, and the "Message" service (located on the Dashboard) when I want to talk to other EFers about personal stuff, I think that's good enough; and we can also chat on the threads!

No!!!

Sometimes during a club meeting sure I think for a moment that it'd be a neat thing to have an IM service... but then I am reminded as soon as the meeting is over... one of the things I like about EF is that there is no chat program here.

I really like that!!! There are many ways to keep in touch without IM'ing. I just wish email notifiers came a wee bit quicker!!!

I don't know how I feel about this one. Maybe if we can choose people to put on a list that can IM us. I can just see people spamming and whatnot.

Never seen a real need for it, one thing I like is that the forums and posts on my wall are there until the end of Eden, heaven forbid. If I feel like chatting with someone (in real time) I just connect with them on Skype or even FB.

I like that there isn't a chat program on here. Private messages, emails, forums...our walls - all are quite convenient in relaying information to one another.

I find it easier and more social-feeling to follow a face paced conversation in a chat room, but for most discussion the forum is better, because information is then available to all for future reference, and also more people can give opinions on a given topic even if they aren't present when it's first brought up.

It would be a nice option since I hate refreshing and other crap like that. I probably wouldn't use it all that much, but I really do like having options.

This is a hard question. I want to say yes, but only if there were guidelines. Like you could approve who could IM you. Although when I'm on here I'm generally reading reviews or doing things that I'd hate to be bothered during. Options are always nice, but I think the comment and message features are working well enough as is.

I think it'd be nice, but Eden would have to give people the option of turning it on/off on their own. This would mean that people who didn't want to use it would just leave it turned off. I think it'd be nice to have for people who DID want it, without it getting in the way for those who don't want it.

I think a chat would be lots of fun! Of course not necessary, but fun. There are some java scripts out there that can be bought for a little bit of money and it is designed for web owners to make chat rooms instantly.

But, on the other hand... things might get crazy in there.
