We have all read how to articles on how to perform sexually. Do these help or frustrate you when they do not work? I found that articles written by people that have actually experienced what they are writing about can help alot, but the general how to's frustrate me when they do not work.
Do how-to artcles help or frustrate you?

It's why I quit reading Maxim and Cosmo. You'll get a LOT better advice here on the forums.

Sex and pleasure is different for everyone. That's why when someone posts something on the forum and they're all "How do I make my man cum", we can offer some simple techniques but it's really difficult to know what works until it...well works. You know?
I don't get frustrated if something doesn't work. There's just no point in putting my energy there. I just move onto the next idea or ask what part worked and what didn't.

"Cosmo tip #185
When climaxing, announce your orgasm in the batman voice."
That little gem is going around tumblr right now and made me laugh. But they had a BDSM issue after 50 shades of grey came out that was cringe-worthy with it's advice. It suggested using toilet paper as a restraining device.
The advice here on the forums though is choice excellent.

Stay away from Cosmo and head right to the blogs, and you'll be fine.

I think everyone is different in their sexual experiences. I have seen quite a bit of garbage in mags and forums. I just take everything lightly and explore on my own.

Cosmo and Maxim are the bane of sexual and relationship how-tos. They are bound to frustrate because they usually don't work, or they make it seem like, "it's so easy!" when it's more likely that it's something that takes practice and patience. I also found Cosmo makes a lot of assumptions about what men want, what women want, what this or that "really means," etc. It just makes people feel like they must be defective if something doesn't work for them, or that they're weird if they like or don't like something that they're "supposed to." Read from the experts, like Violet Blue, talk with open minded friends, check out reputable books, discuss on forums...and of course, trial and error through personal experiences .
