Latex gloves tend to be thinner and much more elastic. Nitrile rubber gloves tend to be a little thicker and less elastic. Latex is still often used in surgery because you have more "feeling" through them. That's pretty much the medical breakdown, as I know it. Just for the differences between them.As far as cost. I get mine very cheaply through a local store, but I went to drugstore(dot)com and for 100 latex gloves it was $7.99. For the nitrile it was $11.99. Those numbers sound pretty accurate.I personally prefer powdered latex. I like the powder because my hand doesn't feel as sweaty and prefer the latex because They stretch more easily so I can get a glove that has a tighter fit without feeling restrictive. because i have a latex allergy and work in a lab, i've been on the lookout for a favorite glove. so far, i love the powder-free nitrile gloves. the fun part...is they come in different colors!!! when i finally convinced the lab to go latex free (after a scary allergic reaction), we got all sorts of brands and colors...from blue and purple to green and black! i can't remember where we purchase ours for work...if anyone is interested, i'll do some searching... less
