Need help on how to fix a vibrator.

Contributor: P'Gell P'Gell
I adore my Body by JoyDivision vibrator. We use it all the time, it's in my top two insertable vibrators. But, we were playing with it the other night, and I heard My Man say, "Whoa!" and I thought the cap with the batteries had come off, so I just kept going (it was still on.)

Later, I went to clean it, and realized the entire cap, only the part that controls the vibrations has somehow come clean off. [img|https://cdn4.edenfantasys.com/Images/DiscussionPosts/290888/5550290689_d17b88a2dc_z.jpg

The bottom of the vibe, with the broken part of the cap off, with the switch showing.

There is no snap, no way to put it back on. I could actually turn the vibrator on using the tiny tiny switch, but My Man would not be able to do that, especially in the dark. I am afraid if I glue it, the switch will stick, if glue gets anywhere but right on the itty bitty switch, as it turns clockwise to turn on an vibrate.

The cap, which moves the switch. No way to put it back on.

The part of the cap that controls the vibrations off. This is NOT the battery compartment cap, but only the part that should never come off.

I really can't return it, because it was a free assignment, and Eden doesn't even have them in stock yet.

What can I do to fix it?

I could just use it for a dil, but I really like the vibrations. About half the time, we never even turn it on, but when we do, it's so fun.

Help, please.

Just to clarify, is the switch where the yellow arrow is pointing to or the red?

I am guessing the red.

Yeah, the switch is the RED. The yellow is the stopper. The switch goes around clockwise until it hits the "stopper" near the bottom of the circle on this pic.

Yeah, I was waiting for him. That would be a great cable show. Toy Time with Tim On TLC.

And My Man keeps going, "I'll look at it." But, it getting overwhelmed at work and my friend, who lost her husband recently needs him over there to do some handyman work.

So, I thought I'd post and see.

So here is my thought to fix it. On the cap, drill a small hole at the red arrow. Make it a bit smaller than where the yellow lines are shown. Place the cap on and use some hot glue to attach it. If you do not have hot glue you might be able to use some other kind of glue-Gorrila glue, epoxy (they make a plastic epoxy that is very nice) or maybe a gel style super glue. I would use a two pieces of tape (One on either side of the hole) to hold the cap down in place.

I would second what Dwtim suggested already. It seems logical enough.

Man, I hope you can save this! I hate when my favorite toys break.

OK. The little hole that I will drill will prevent the glue from gluing the switch to the bottom part of the cap?

Dumb question, but can I use a Dremmel tool to make the hole? It's one of the easiest tools in My Man's workshop that I can access and use. (I hope I can find it.)

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!

Thanks. I don't have the bucks for acrylics right now. Those are the glue on ones in the box. (The nails.)

I hope I can fix it, because I have no idea how to get an other one. It was an assignment for a toy that Eden doesn't carry yet. *sigh*

Maybe if it can't be fixed you can write to JoyDivision?

(Not that I'm doubting your Mad Skillz, Tim.)

Yes, the idea is to glue only the top part of the switch to the cap. My hope is that the glue will replace the small dowel that broke. The Dremmel would work fine. While your at it, use the Dremmel to scuff up the top part of the switch. This will help give the glue something to adhere to.

Another thought I have, maybe the cap from one of your other vibes would fit?

I'm going to try it. I have some Gorilla glue, I'm just worried that I'll glue the whole thing shut so it won't turn on.

No, I don't have an other cap that would fit it. I'm not even sure what broke. We were playing and all of a sudden he just went "Whoa!" I grabbed the vibe and thought the battery cap was off, I thought I screwed it back on (we were really BUSY) the vibrations were still on, and after we were done, I took it into the bathroom to wash it and the gray cap fell off in my hand.

I'll try what you suggested. He'll never be able to find that tiny switch with his big Ham Hands.

It looks like this whole section turns, so as long as the glue does not get to the bottom of this area, you should be good.

Let me know how it works, ok?

OMG, I'm so sorry. I haven't fixed it yet. It's been cold, and I am not going into the workshop/garage in this weather. (Excuses, right?)

We are still using it as a dildo. (It's one of my favorite shapes for this purpose.) And when we pulled it out the other night. I said I was going to try to fix it, with some instructions from a friend. My Man was all, "WTF P'Gell? It's just a dildo, you have dozens, hell, hundreds of sex toys. I'm not doing it." He doesn't get it, I think. It's one of our three most used toys.

I need to find the Dremmel tool (in his mess of a workshop) in order to do it, and it looks like I'm not going to get any help, so I have to get to it when I can. After TWO weeks of kids on Spring Break (one after the other) and now an other sick kid home, I haven't even been able to do the video reviews I need to do, I have had no privacy to do things like this.

I'm guessing I'll need at least an hour, and I'm terrified of ruining it with the glue.

Tim, you're right, IF I can keep the glue off the part which moves it will be OK. It's such a small part, I'm really scared I'll ruin it.

Fear paralyzes me. Really.

I have to get the time and the GUTS to just go and do it.

Thank you all for your help, Tim, especially. I really have to get the time next week to do it.

I know EF doesn't carry the Body, but what about Nature Bruce? It's made by the same manufacturer, is slightly shorter, but also slightly wider. Might be a good alternative?

Only use a drop of glue placed through the hole. If you put the cap on first and hold it down, the glue should only go where the hole is.

Let us know, OK?

Thanks, Tim. I was so scared of ruining it. It took me forever to get to fixing it, especially after My Man said I had enough vibrators to start a sex store, so he wasn't going to do it.

Anyway, a few days ago, we used it (as a dildo, because My Man can't turn it on without the cap on it) and I scratched my leg on the unfinished end during DP with the cap off of it. After I had cleaned it and was putting it away and thought, "This is silly." So, I grabbed some polyacrylic nail glue (it was on my dresser) and c-a-r-e-f-u-l-l-y just put a drop on the little thing on the lid and put it together and kept it moving while the glue dried. Realizing half way through, I could have just removed the cap, rather than holding the entire vibrator and turning it on and off.

It worked! The last few times we've used an other vibe during sex, so I haven't checked it in a few days, but it was working perfectly.

I didn't want to replace it with a different vibe, I LOVE the shape of this thing, and its one of my favorites for couple play. I mean, we have more than a dozen phallic vibes and dildos, but this is one of my favorites. No other vibrator has the shape of this one. There's just something about it.

Tim, I couldn't have done it without you. Thank all of you for your help.

YAY! When Eden carries this it will be perfect. WHY aren't they carrying it. It's a wonderful vibrator and the shape and size have no equal I can find.
