Does thumb holding lessen your gag reflex?

I've never heard this one. The only thing that worked for me to lessen my gag reflex was 'practicing' with dildos. With practice, I've learned to relax and welcome it into my throat. The best tip I ever got was 'try to swallow it'. I can't imagine what holding your thumb would have to do with anything!

I've always wondered about that.
