I say it all depends. If its for your partner then sure why not. Or for a friend as a goofy gift sure.
But maybe it should go along with something non-sexual as well. Just my opinion.

I think that it's appropriate as long as it's just something that you share with your partner or a very close friend, and not in front of Grandma and the kids.

I know I'm pretty late for this, but I think that if you are getting a gift you should be thankful, but you should also be open with your partner of your feelings about what is an appropriate gift for the appropriate occasion. Hopefully he didn't get you want you didn't want, and also hopefully you didn't open it on X-mas day in front of friends or family! haha

I think it's totally appropriate personally but it really is up to those involved. Like you say, if it's not something you want then that should be respected as well.

I think toys are appropriate anytime of the year! My bf got me a toy for my birthday and I loved it! Of course he gave it to me privately and we tried it out right away... He did get me another present too. So maybe next year, your bf can get you a fun new toy as well as some other gifts. And who knows... maybe you will find a better toy! = )

I think there would be nothing wrong with getting a toy like that for the holidays as long as it wasn't the main gift. If I were to give my girl a toy I'd also get her something non-sexual that was special and showed I cared

I chose other because I suck at gift giving in a non-sexual/spicy manner. I usually am the lame person who opts for a gift card for any occasion. I have a lot of friends who do like sexual items and I have gifted them. For a wedding present I got some stockings, rabbit and lotion. I have gifted other toys or gift cards. These are friends that I know like these types of things but I do not only gift sexual items.

I think it really depends on the person. My man just got me a very high end toy for our anniversary, and I am THRILLED with it. But, I don't think that works for everyone. If you're uncomfortable with it, then I'd say skip it - because you can do naughty gifts whenever you want. But, if you're buying for someone who doesn't mind, I think it's a really thoughtful gift. (Probably best to give it in private though, not when you're opening gifts under the tree with all the relatives. lol)

I do not know your holiday traditions, but if I was feeling apprehensive about ruining the Christmas spirit, I would try making the gift a stocking stuffer! You can still accept a beautiful present, but as a stuffer it seems more lighthearted. No cards, no notes, just a silly morning surprise.

We actually enjoy doing both. I typically buy my wife a naughty gift and a regular gift. The naughty gift is to open privately at night after enjoying the day with the kids. Works for us.

The appropriateness of the gift depends entirely on where it will be opened and in whose company. Gifts are as much a pleasure for the giver as the receiver, as much what someone wants to have or share with you as what you would like. If christmas makes you feel childish and you enjoy that "innocence" then create a separate tradition with your lover: naughty santa's night before christmas. It's reasonable for you to both be able to get what you want but to forbid your lover to give you a toy which interests him/her for ANY holiday or to not accept a well-intended gift graciously... that's hardly "appropriate".

I would not have a problem with it myself, but I think that if you or someone else were uncomfortable or disappointed by the idea of a naughty X-mas gift, that's your own feelings, and your other half should respect that. :]
