I have known for a while that my masturbation style is.. unique. I know that the way I approach toys is different as well and I usually have to take this into consideration when writing reviews. I tend to love vibrators because they have more unique shapes than dildos but no matter how high the vibrations a toy has, I never get off on vibrations alone. I need the pressure and, as such, even those super strong vibrators take their toll on me. I always have to do a lot of work on my own. But when I read some experiences it seems like some people basically place a toy where they want, let it run its course and get off without much effort from themselves.

So, actually, this is just me being curious. Do you get off effortlessly (or close to it)? Does a toy get high marks in your book if you don't have to work at an orgasm? If you had to work for an orgasm does that lower how you rate a toy?

I don't get off effortlessly on my own. Not even close.

Vibrations get me there, but only when paired with pressure and positioning. I don't lower a toy's rating based on how much work I had to do, unless I had to do ALL of the work and it didn't bring anything to the table (or to the orgasm!).

When I'm masturbating, I like it to be effortless. Usually, I'm working hard all day, whether I'm at school or work. So when I'm all curled up in bed with my vibrator, that's my time to pamper myself, not work some more. I had a hard time deciding whether to buy my first dildo. I kept thinking "Wait, I'm gonna have to actually MOVE it. I won't be able to just lay there."

On my own is more work than with someone, usually. (Making an exception for inept lovers.) What's interesting is (I realize now that you mention it) I was able to orgasm faster by myself before I started using toys. Now if I'm alone I actually like to take my time. But no - I can't just stick a toy somewhere and let it do it's thing.

As far as reviews, I write about how well it works for me the way I use it. If I get frustrated using it I'm not likely to give it good marks. I get frustrated when I'm using something and it just isn't doing anything - much less getting me there. For me it's more about the overall experience with the toy - not just the orgasms.

Wow, I feel like a bit of an odd-ball now lol. I almost always orgasm with my boyfriend, but I find it much easier with a toy. I can but the vibrations at the right speed and in the exact place I want to come easily.

Actually, the way I masturbate with a clit type toy and with my hands is much the same. I just use the toy to rub/press and it does take the stress of my fingers.

Although I think there's a good argument to be made that we are the NORMAL people.

ICK. I'm way out of it here. I really like dildo's and glass far more than vibration. Most of the pleasure in sex when I'm alone is the joy and pleasure of imagination, taking it slow, the build up, tension, backing away and starting over. Vibration just doesn't work as well for that. It's too fast most of the time. The orgasm isn't as pleasant or as strong! I only have one toy that vibrates that I really love.

Yes! Sometimes the Xtreme G-Spot is TOO damned fast for me. If I'm tired it's the first thing I turn to though.

This thread has got me thinking, I masturbate both with toys and vibes...they work much better for me then just my fingers. Actually being in the mood (feeling horny) with a sense of anticipation is big for me.

It is curved. For me, G-spot stimulation is usually painful and uncomfortable so "nice" is as good as it's ever felt for me.

Well, it really depends on my mood. Some days for no known reason it's just harder. Some days, especially before my cycle and during the first few days, it takes almost no effort! Lol. Sometimes it happens in only minutes and sometimes hours! When we are using a toy around my super horny time I'll be very into it and my partner says "So is this one gonna get a good review?" Lol.
