I admit I tried to read them - a colleauge had hem on the table and I opened it in the middle, and started reading. I could not get through 2 pages, I found the writing style that bad. SO I have no oppinion on the story itself.
I'll probably attempt to read it, just to see what all the fuss is about, but - honestly - I haven't heard many good things about it. I'd like to read it just so I can enjoy some of the parodies I've seen on Amazon.
Liked it as I was reading it but I'm no longer a fan because it portrays false stereotypes of the BDSM community, which I didn't really explore until after reading it.
Someone gave me this series and I did read them since they were free and I am an avid reader. They were horrid. The style and grammar were pitiful and the characters were shitty. The book also featured an abusive relationship and bad examples of BDSM.
I was curious at first, but then read reviews about it being badly written and a poor portrayal of BDSM for those who know better. Then I found out it actually was Twilight fanfiction orginally (I was put off by the Twilight origins, not the fanfic origins). The last thing that convinced me it would be a waste of my time to read is that my sister is reading it. She has terrible taste in books.
The writing was absolutely horrible. There is waaaay better erotica out there - and much of it doesn't involve obviously abusive and coercive situations, like Fifty Shades does!
I read all three and liked them. I liked them so much that I actually read all three in about two weeks.
I love reading, but have a very hard time doing it. I can't sit and read a book unless i'm really into it. I'm not in BDSM, nor have I ever read an erotica book, so maybe that's why I liked it so much because I thought it was well worth the read in my opinion, but like I said, that could be because i'm not into BDSM nor erotica.
I have heard from others who have read 'Bared To You' & 50 Shades, that they are both along the same lines except 'Bared to you' was a well more written book, however I just never found the time to read it, nor did I feel the want to if it's along the same lines, just only written better. I think I would feel like I was reading the same thing over again & that's just something I can't do. However, maybe in the future I will come to turns and read that series and see how they compare.
Fifty shades of grey - did you read it? Did you like it?
I read it, it is a poor portrayal of a 24/7 D/s relationship. It's more an abusive, controlling relationship than anything. Big difference. I do like that it has opened the door for many people, however, and introduced kink to the mainstream!
