Have you ever taken sex toys in your carry-on luggage? Which kinds?

Contributor: Antipova Antipova
I don't fly very often anymore, but when I do, I never take checked luggage. The extra fees, the possibility it could get lost, and the extra time waiting in the baggage claim combine to make me pack everything in one bag, no matter how long I'll be gone.

But if you're flying with sex toys, that means TSA will be having a look at what you're bringing. What have you been bold enough to bring on a plane? Do vibrators look too much like bombs to even attempt? A heavy toy like the Eleven looks like it could be used as a weapon---would you take the chance of looking TSA in the face and telling them it was a sex toy, or would you leave it at home? How about harnesses or butt plugs through the metal detectors or backscatter scanners? I'm always paranoid that I'll forget I've got my Njoy plug in and try to go to a post office in a state building... and it would only be worse at the airport!

Any regrets? Any stories? If you've been successful bringing something, let us know what it was!

Captivating topic discussions on Dildo Gag:

When you engage in sexual activities, do you always kiss your partner?
I realized that a few (and by few, I mean many) times that my husband and I have had sex or engaged in sexual activities, there wasn't any kissing....

Which Gag for beginner?
I was curious about having my boyfriend gag me during BDSM play. What is a good starter gag?

I took my form 2 in my purse. It was locked so it wouldn't turn on and no one said anything about it. I figure they see much worse things everyday!

I've never flown with toys and I can't imagine that I would at this point in time. I'm never flying anywhere appropriate to have toys anyway, mainly just to visit family where I sleep out on the couch in the living room

My rule is basically not to travel with anything metal. The airport where I live seems to be okay if you follow that rule, but we usually get metal stuff taken away from us and we have to pick it up on the way home.

My thoughts exactly. I don't need to bring toys to meet my finacee's extended family.

I've never flown with toys either, but as txymxy I'm not usually flying somewhere that would be appropriate for toys. If I ever do I'll probably be very careful which ones, and will just pack them VERY carefully in my checked luggage. (Of course, that would probably be the 1 time they lost my bag )

You get to pick it up on the way home? Our airports take it and if you don't opt to take it back and check it with a bag then they throw it out!

As for flying with toys myself, I've never flown with one in my carry on, but I have checked a bag with toys on them. It seemed like half the suitcase we took on our honeymoon was toys or some other sex type product, lol.

You have to pay for them to store it, but for items that small, it's pretty cheap. They wont let you carry it on the plane with you, even if it isn't a weapon. If it's metal, it's a weapon. My grandmother even got her necklace snatched.

You can also pay a shipping service to deliver it home to you. Like USPS or something. I'm not sure which one it is. But that costs more. I would rather pay a few bucks to have it put in a locker for me.

I rarely even bring toys. Now that I think about it, they aren't too okay with glass either. The only toys I got away with were jelly/plastic/and one of my Icicles. I only took them a few times up state for a sexual health even for planned parenthood.

I havent flown in forever but I would take my toys if I felt like it. Im a pretty open and honest person. It wouldnt bother me to pull out a butt plug and be like, yeah... thats mine.

It's still pretty cool that your airport does that, lol.

I take whatever I think my wife will like. I usually pack them along with my golf clubs! They always open them to look in - I'm sure they see a lot of weird shit!

Yeah, I've occasionally seen TSA let people mail things home, but it's usually quite costly. Neat that STL's airport will store them.

I think I'd personally be more worried about having things confiscated than about people seeing my stuff---Most of the people in an airport are strangers I'll never see again, but I don't want a TSA agent to think that my favorite toy is a threat to the airplane's safety. And I've had them complain about some pretty weird stuff. Whey protein powder, for example. I don't know if they thought it looked like drugs or like an ingredient for a bomb, but they didn't think I should be traveling with it. And if they'd take protein powder, I can imagine them taking small mechanical devices without much hesitation.

We check ours for a few reasons. First, we really don't want our toys pulled out in the security lane, and further what if they confiscated something (sorry, TSA lady, get your own).

I wouldn't feel embarrassed. If they are not sexually positive then they are not. They see all kinds of stuff everyday so they wouldn't be surpised too much.

When I do it this summer, I won't take the risk and I'll put my toys in carry on. Actually, I'm still pretty nervous.

Aw, I've never even flown at all! I think if I ever do, though, I'll take one or two of my smaller vibes and maybe some toy wipes. Dunno if I'd have the guts to take more than that!

The 1st time I flew with a sex toy it was the link Naughty Boy Prostate Massager] & a couple of adult dvd's in my checked bag I noticed a piece of paper from the TSA stated that they had hand checked my bag. Oh well

I've traveled a few times with sex toys in my luggage, both carry-on and check-in. One time my carry-on was inspected and I was worried it might be embarrassing, but they didn't look deep enough into my bag to pull the toys out.

I really don't worry about it, but I certainly wouldn't pack anything that could be construed as a weapon; it's just not worth the potential drama.

Check out this story from the San Francisco Chronicle: Apparently you just have to say "It's my vibrator" and you'll be left alone. They do caution against bringing Elevens, and other billy-club-like "anatomically correct cylinders" of more than a foot in length, which can be classified as weapons.

teehee. I have a really great anatomically correct cylinder collection, guys.

A 7.5" silicone anal plug has successfully flown in my carry-on through what I equate to be Gestapo-like TSA screenings.

I am going to be leaving Thursday to fly internationally and want to bring my Moonshine. I hate to put it in checked luggage in fear of it being taken. I read the San Francisco Chronicle listed above and couldn't figure out what category it would fit into since it's small, but heavy glass. Anyone have any clue?
