So today I went to the beach and got a terrible sunburn! As I was buying aloe vera, the checker said that if you spray tequila on your burns, it will help. Has anyone tried this?

I've had second degree sunburn and it sucks! I never sprayed tequila on it and don't think I would. I did use vinegar and baking soda, both of which helped.

I am a natural redhead and burn a lot I'll have to try spraying tequilla on it. If that doesn't work you could always drink the tequilla .

I try to avoid it but when I get burned I take asprin every 4 hours and use lavender essential oil. Make sure there is not a carrier oil in it but that it is 100% essential oil. Aloe works well too, but you are better off with the plant, splitting the leaves and applying it that way. Much of the aloe you buy at drug stores has little actual aloe in it. I never heard of putting tequila on a burn. One time my dr perscribed an ointment that had silver in it. I cannot recall the name, but if it is severe enough perhaps a visit to your dr is in order.

The ointment is called Silvadene.

It is for fairly severe burns, chemical burns, severe diaper rash and severe sun burn. It has an antibacterial and antifungal action from the silver and also healing action. It turns everything it touches a weird black color, so wear raggy clothes when you use it.

Please don't put Tequila on your sunburn. I would NOT use any type of alcohol on burns. You skin is damaged and alcohol can be absorbed through the tissue and cause illness. You can also damage your respiratory system by rubbing alcohol of any type over large parts of your body.

Stick with aspirin, a numbing agent, like Solarcaine, Lanacaine, benzocaine or aloe, if you must. (I am not a huge aloe fan. Many double blind studies have shown it to not be much more healing than a placebo, but it won't do any harm, as long as it is pure aloe.)

Make sure you get enough water, burns can dehydrate you and cause fever and immune system problems. Rest so you can heal.

If it doesn't get better in a day or so, if you start running a fever, develop a severe headache, your urine becomes dark or cloudy or you have nausea, start to vomit or start to feel uncoordinated, go to the emergency room for treatment. Severe sunburn IS a second degree burn, sometimes even a third degree burn and can be quite damaging.

I hope the OP feels better. From now on, you will be more susceptible to sunburn, as your skin has been damaged. Use a high SPF full spectrum skin screen and stay out of the sun.

Please, if you don't heal quickly get medical help. Sunburn can be very damaging.

Never tried tequila, but might be worth it to see. I just use Aloe vera gel and take tylenol to preven a fever I get afterward. I rarely burn, but have had a few. No fun!!

I've never tried that but it sounds like it could go very wrong potentially. If you do, keep water nearby just in case it feels crappy!
I always just go with aloe vera and pain relieving creams (Like, the stuff usually used for backaches.).
I hope you feel better and heal up soon!

I have never tried that before but I do know that if you have your own aloe vera plant, it works a lot better than buying it from the store to help it quicker.

I need to get an aloe plant. It is very hot where I live and the sun is killer during the summer!

I recall my mother used to slather us with Noxzema cream when we had a sunburn. Tequila would be to numb the feeling by drinking these days, rather than spraying on the skin.

I'm always slathered in sunblock if I set foot outside....but my CPR and First Aid teacher swears by using vinegar.
