Give A Little Bit of Your Love (Card) to Me
Whether you want to give a gift to another or treat yourself, EdenFantasy's love card has you covered. The physical card can actually be or accompany a gift, while the code-using process is easy and efficient. You can pay for shipping and still use coupons with the card, which is the strongest feature in my eyes. More design choices for the physical cards would make this a five-star item.
Published:
Pros
Multiple denominations, recyclable, covers shipping, can use with coupon, can use multiple times
Cons
Doesn't reload, odd design choice, only one design, lackluster as a gift
Whether you want to actually give someone a physical gift card or you simply send a digital code through the mail, EdenFantasy's Love Card is your solution. I've used plenty of these gift cards--both virtual and physical--and they're definitely great for some reasons, but you might not love them.
Let's start with design. It's bright and whimsical like many of the element's on EF's site. However, the website's pink and green color scheme aren't readily recognizable, which I'd like. The leaf from the company logo does serve as the letter "E" in the phrase "Love Card," and it also appears on the card that the gift card tucks into.
I think EF could do better when it comes to branding and appearance. The design is almost child-like. It would be great if they provided consumers with more design options. Other reviewers have a similar opinion. If you gave this to someone who wasn't familiar with EF, they would have NO idea what the card was for. Even as someone who is familiar, I really don't think the design on the front of the card matches the theme. I think EF could do something sexy without becoming tacky or use pictures of sex toys. I wouldn't mind a gift card with some Fun Factory vibrators on it. Some people have suggested that EF even come up with two versions: one naughty and one nice. I think a bridal themed card would also be great to see!
The physical card is paperboard and not plastic. This means it's not really great for re-using; although, I don't think you can easily recharge them. However, this makes it even easier to recycle than a plastic gift card because it can go right out with your paper. I imagine this is a cost-effective move for a company that currently lacks physical stores. No magnet strip is needed because you will never have to swipe the Love Card.
If you wanted to use this as an actual gift for someone else, it might feel a little lackluster. You could spruce it up with your own card, envelope, ribbons and other decorations. It would probably be less disappointing with another gift.
Use of these cards is stupidly easy, however. Simply type the card number into the appropriate form field during the checkout process. Gift cards at EdenFantasys can cover shipping, which I love as a frugal consumer. You can still use other promo or partner codes with the gift card, which further helps me to pinch pennies. You can always access the remainder on the card, so shoppers can split up their uses for larger cards. For example, I could spend $25 this week and spend the other $75 later if I was using the card worth $100. It's not a use-it-all-or-lose-it card. Awesome!
As a gifter, the card is great. If you know someone has had an eye on something expensive, if you're close enough to know your best friend loves sex toys or you want to casually introduce someone to the website, EF's Love Card is the way to go. On the other hand, not everyone will feel appropriate giving or receiving these cards.
I haven't had too many opportunities to use the physical cards, but I love the ease of using a card number virtually. If you had a card that you wanted to swap, you could simply send the number to someone via email, messenger or text. There's no scratching or pin number needed--just the one number on the card.
Will you love the love card? Depends on your needs.
