If you are looking for a large phallic shaped inflatable object, then Cal Exotics may have just the toy for you. The Inflatable Butt Plug is part of their Colt Gear line which, I believe, is marketed toward gay males. This seems obvious with this toy when considering the packaging, but more on that later. There is nothing that says this inflatable toy must be used exclusively in the ass, and really, in some ways it isn't all that well suited for anal play. It starts out relatively large, so most will require some warm up before jumping to this plug. Although it has no base, it is large enough that one would really have to get carried away for this to be inserted too far. The material is porous and cannot be sterilized, so a condom would be best in order to keep the toy clean.

The EdenFantasys product information page lists the Inflatable Butt Plug's material as phthalate free PVC which rates 8 on the safety scale, but I don't know if they are talking about the outside cover or the interior core. The core certainly feels like stiff plastic, but the outside cover is latex which is clear from the packaging which states "soft inflatable latex". Latex rates only 4 on the safety scale. There probably isn't a much safer material, however, that has the flexibility to be inflated as much as latex does. The shaft of the toy has slightly raised ridges on it, presumably to simulate the veins of a penis, but once it is inflated those are hardly noticeable.

The Inflatable Butt Plug hits a 2" diameter close to the base. There is very little taper to it once you get past the tip, so the whole thing is pretty large. Those measurements are pre-inflation. I suppose you could inflate it prior to insertion, but that is just going to make the insertion more difficult. Once it is inserted the desired amount, you can start pumping it up. If much of the shaft is left outside, then some air will probably be out there. You can squeeze it to force the air inside, but it is probably easier to insert the majority of the shaft so that the inflatable portion is completely inside. It inflates considerably. Probably more than almost any one would want. I pumped it up quite a bit and it could definitely continue to be pumped up further, but I know this is way more than I would ever want.

I think that the Inflatable Butt Plug performs its designed function pretty well. It is big and it inflates. It doesn't really conform to the standard "butt plug" format which usually includes some kind of neck and some kind of flange. These additions would probably make the toy easier to use as it would give a location where the sphincter would be able to relax and allow the plug to more easily stay in place during inflation activities.

Since the exterior of the Inflatable Butt Plug is latex, it is porous and cannot be sterilized. The best way to protect the material is to use a condom over it particularly for anal play. Condoms are very stretchy, so having it wrapped in a condom should not impact its ability to inflate. I didn't have any problem inflating it with a condom on. Cleaning the latex exterior is just soap and water or a toy cleaner. Any lube except petroleum based (petroleum jelly) is okay to use with the latex exterior. This makes water resistant lubes, like silicone based, available for use. There really shouldn't be a lot of cleaning necessary for the inflation bulb and tube, but that can be cleaned the same way since there is no electrical components involved.

The Inflatable Butt Plug comes in a box for hanging. It shows a picture of a very fit man's backside with his underwear partially removed which is what leads me to think it is being marketed to gay men, because what straight guy wants to see a picture of some model's ass on his box? Plus, the fact that it is phallic shaped really moves it away from the straight marketing, but just because you use it doesn't mean you're gay, right? Another side of the box has a picture of the toy, so the packaging really is not discreet at all.

After a little bit of warm up I was able to get the Inflatable Butt Plug well inserted. Since it doesn't have a neck, it can remain a little uncomfortable after insertion. By the time I had it inserted I didn't really need to inflate it much. I was already stretched enough that any more than a couple of pumps just really felt too uncomfortable. I didn't feel much prostate impact but I certainly felt full. If you are looking for a full feeling or trying to see how much you can stretch, this might be just the toy you need.
