A Thug Among Plugs

The Vibro Erotems butt plug is a beast. No, really. It's a massive toy, and this coming from someone (namely myself) who has never had problems accommodating size where anal insertion was involved. Even I felt a wee bit stretched in using this fellow. Thus, it's most certainly not for beginners, or people who prefer milder forms of anal-play.

Beyond that, however, it's a solid enough toy which unfortunately suffers for the low quality of the material it's made of.

Pros
Flexible but firm, impressive size, relatively inexpensive for a vibrating anal toy.
Cons
Really, it's huge. Not as strong as advertised, strange odor, lower-quality material.

Use

The Vibro Erotems butt plug is, as it says on the proverbial tin, a vibrating anal toy. You can just as easily use it alone as with a partner.

I'd bill this as a toy for those experienced with anal play and looking for a challenge, or those who enjoy pushing sensations to extremes. Those belonging to the latter category, however, beware; the vibrations are not as strong as advertised. The size alone should provide a fair deal of bang for your buck, though.

I also think this toy could have a place in some Masters' dungeons. In black, it cuts an intimidating figure, and I believe it's inexpensive enough to warrant being used as a flavor prop, even if you don't often make practical use of it. Imagine brandishing it at a bound partner, and slowly turning up the vibrations. You could have some subs shaking in their proverbial boots with trepidation, anticipation, or both.

Material / Texture

Boy, howdy, do I ever have a few things to say about this.

The Vibro Erotems plug is made of your run-of-the-mill rubber; a material which scores all of a whopping three on Eden's safety scale. And this, I believe, is where most of my beef with this toy stems from. Perhaps I'm a finicky beast, but I truly prefer my anal toys in non-porous materials.

The low quality of the rubber, and the chemicals used to treat and colour it lend the toy a strong, unpleasant odor which, despite all my efforts, does not wash out. My pet helpfully informed me that this was a result of compounds in the material breaking down. Not the most toothsome thing to think about while trying to engage in some erotic play, is it?

If odor isn't an issue for you, and you don't mind the hassle of using condoms on your toys, the material is pleasantly firm, yet springy. Just a touch flexible, which is how I tend to like it. Furthermore, it's very smooth, but I don't recommend playing with this toy uncovered.

Design / Shape / Size

This toy is not discreet, nor is it suitable for travel, unless you want to devote a duffel bag to carrying it. It's a huge, glossy black monster that makes no bones about what it's meant to be used for; which, in some situations, can be something of a boon. It's an intimidating specimen which some might enjoy brandishing at their partners just to make them squirm.

I'll be honest and say right now that I think the beige version of this toy looks unpalatable. But, of course, I have a thing for black. If it's black and mirror-smooth, all the better! Truly, I do like the way this beast looks.

And as for the size- as noted, the sheer intimidation factor can be quite fun during play. However, it also makes the Vibro Erotems plug singularly unsuitable for anal virgins who feel at all nervous about taking that first plunge, or for folks who just can't take that much in terms of length and girth. The length and circumference both weigh in at around the five inch mark. I note in my summary that I have no problems taking larger toys anally, but this sucker had me feeling fuller than usual. An enjoyable sensation for me, and for other folks who like big anal toys, but definitely something most people are going to have to work up to.

Beyond all that, the flare and base are both wide enough to ensure this toy won't likely pop out once inserted -- a definite concern for both myself and my partner.

Functions / Performance / Controls

The controls on this plug are easy enough to wrangle after a casual once-over. Turn the dial to lower or heighten the intensity. The sound level is relatively discreet, though nothing else about the toy is, so you needn't worry about anyone hearing it through a closed door.

I wouldn't recommend taking this fellow into the shower or bath; the plug itself might be fine, but the controller is most certainly not water-tight.

I note a few times in this review that the toy isn't as strong as it's billed as being. This may have to do with the vibrations being centered around the thickest flared portion of the plug, and thus radically dampened.

Care and Maintenance

Being made of rubber, and therefore porous, I truly don't recommend using this toy without a condom. Particularly if you intend to share it.

Myself, I wash it in warm water and antibacterial soap before use, cover with a condom, play, strip, and wash again before putting it away. This makes it a tad more high maintenance than my other toys, but has kept it in relatively good condition thus far.

On the up side, it's usable with both water and silicone-based lubricants, and can be stored with relative ease. Though, I wouldn't suggest storing it in a hot place. Either everything nearby it would start picking up its unique odor, or it might melt!

Packaging

The packaging for the Vibro Erotems plug isn't terribly impressive or discreet. Though, I suppose discreet isn't really what one's going for with a monster like this. It's a simple, clear, molded plastic with a very groovy graphic insert which I think is meant to look like a hot afternoon's acid dream after a bout of stomach flu.

The plug and its controller are on proud display in front of a rippling tie-dye mirage of bright pink, neon yellow, and chartreuse, with the toy's name printed vertically, off to the side. It's a bit unwieldy to be used for storage after it's been opened, though the package does re-seal.

Personal comments

The first thing I noticed about this product, upon unwrapping, was not its size. No. That, I got to marvel over through the clear plastic. Once this fellow was free to the open air, however, what I really focused on was the smell. For lack of a better comparison, it smells like cheap suntan lotion.

Not really the most arousing first impression for a toy to make.

Even so, he's big and he vibrates. If you like a bit of girth spooned into your anal play, this plug isn't a bad choice. Just be sure to use a condom when you take him for a ride.

Experience

In my experience, this toy is not nearly as powerful as it's listed as being. The first time I ramped up the vibrations -- expecting a good, solid four vrooms akin to some of my other toys from Eden -- I was greeted by a three, at best. And this is on the highest setting!

Needless to say, combined with the aforementioned odd smell, you can paint me somewhat disappointed, gentle Eden-reader. Adding into this equation the low safety rating of the material, and I'm rather glad this bad boy isn't terribly expensive. He's not a total bust as a plug, but I feel he falls a mite short of what he promises to deliver, in certain arenas.
Follow-up commentary
This toy has seen a fair bit of use, at this point, and it hasn't yet begun to look any worse for the wear. It's of relatively sturdy make, and quite happily doesn't go through batteries quickly. Honestly, all that's going against it, so far as I'm concerned, is the material and associated smell.

Not a bad investment, if you want size on a budget and don't mind a bit of extra maintenance.
