One of the first things I noticed about the Specialist was the shape. Many prostate toys that I have seen and used in the past are rather large in an effort to be able to stimulate the prostate once inserted. This can be intimidating and a challenge for someone new to prostate stimulation. That is not the case here. The insertable end is similarly shaped like an index finger with a firm spot where the pad of the finger is. The Specialist is designed to stimulate the prostate internally which means anal penetration is required. The Specialist should not intimidate someone new to anal penetration and can be easily handled by someone who is experienced with anal penetration. Additionally, the flexibility and handle shape allow for ease of control when inserting and using the Specialist. The Specialist is also waterproof and noticed no water getting inside the battery compartment when using it in the shower.

The Specialist has a red plastic handle and the insertable portion is made of black silicone. The color combination works well and the design allows for good control when inserting and during use. There was no noticeable new product smell and it was ready to go after a quick clean and battery installation. The insertable end is smooth and firm but flexible enough to not be uncomfortable during use. The silicone transfers the vibrations well but they are not over the top intense. The Specialist is a great introduction to anal penetration and prostate stimulation for someone new but can be enjoyed by all levels of users.

There appears to be a good amount of thought into the Specialist. The handle fits well in the palm of your hand and the controls are easy to operate (think clicking a ball point pen) and are located on the base of the handle. The pushbutton is used to cycle through the different settings as well as turn it on and off. It is also located in a manner that minimizes the chance of changing the setting during use. The insertable end is about 3 inches long and has a 90 degree bend in it. This helps the Specialist stay focused on the prostate as well as preventing too much insertion. The size of the Specialist makes it a well-rounded toy for a variety of users and is small enough to travel well.

The Specialist surprised me with the multiple settings, 10 to be exact. Generally I find the different settings tend to be more of a gimmick in my opinion however the variation on several of the settings were enjoyable. The vibrations could be felt in both the silicone and the handle. The vibrations in the handle provided external stimulation which was a pleasant surprise and extra benefit. It took a little bit to figure out how to turn the vibrations off. This is accomplished by pressing and holding the button for about 3 seconds. A quick press of the button when the vibrations are on is how you change the settings.

The Specialist requires two AA batteries and the battery compartment is easy to open and close. Cleaning is pretty simple since it is waterproof soap and water or toy cleaner is all you need to keep it clean although I don't think running it through the dishwasher would be a good idea. Water-based lubes are the Specialist's best friends.

The Specialist comes packed in a clear plastic blister package. I used scissors to cut off one side and the top and bottom of the package, instant storage case. The instructions included a graphic that represents the different settings. If you own a toy box or storage bag that is a better option since the package is larger than the actual product.

The Specialist surprised me in a good way. After using it I was still experiencing some after sensations from the vibrations. They were not over the top yet there was a certain tingle that lasted several minutes that reminded me of the sensation when you're foot falls asleep. Also the stimulation the handle gave my testicles was an added bonus.

Being far from an anal beginner I still remember what it was like starting out all those years ago. The Specialist would have been a welcomed start to my anal play. That being said the Specialist was a pleasant surprise and a welcome addition to the toy box.
