Chubby Checker Wasn't Singing About This Twist

The Twist is so incredibly original. Any connoisseur of anal toys is going to need to have this one in their collection, and (just like me) is going to reach for it frequently because of the unique experience it creates for both the giver and the receiver.

Use

The twist is, first and foremost, designed to be used anally with a special gimmick. The toy has a screw that spirals around and down the entire length of the body. The neck is smooth and does not have any threads. With a bit of torque, the toy can be slowly worked into place by holding the base and turning the entire thing clockwise. In the beginning, you'll need to provide a little bit of pressure against the base, as you're turning, in order to get the threads started. At some point, the threads start to grab, and you can feel the toy wanting to pull itself inward.

If you're feeling a bit more adventurous, you can take a more direct approach and push the toy straight in. You're guaranteed for a bumpy experience.

Partners In Crime

Those familiar with butt plugs know that they come in all shapes and sizes. People want to know if a particular plug stays in place. This one does. The toy would be great to wear out and about, as the base is incredibly comfortable and doesn't stick out at all. The base, although very thin, is wide enough and long enough that it keeps the toy from being pulled in.

To be sure, this really isn't a toy meant for thrusting, unless you're into that type of pain. Even then, you'd have to know exactly where your limits are. The jury's out as to whether or not this toy would work vaginally. I'm a guy, so I lack the faculties to draw any conclusions. I'm willing to bet that it would be fun to try out, but the toy really doesn't have enough girth or length to be much more than an initial amusement.

Material / Texture

The toy is made of 100% silicone and has a matte finish. Being silicone, the toy is non-porous. Running your finger against the toy produces a slight amount of drag. The body and neck are more rigid, but the base is the most pliant of any toy I've ever played with. The surfaces of the body and neck are firm, but compress a little if you push against them.

The toy has an almost undetectable smell. There is a very tiny seam running down either side of the toy, and it is more visible inside the trench of the screw. Being that the toy isn't meant to resemble anything phallic, it doesn't really look or feel like a penis. You have to enjoy texture in order to enjoy this toy.

    • Not porous at all

Design / Shape / Size

The toy has 3.5 inches of insertable length, and has a bulb that is up to 1.5 inches wide. The base is 3 inches long, and 7/8 inches wide.

I was an instant fan of the Twist. I've never seen another toy like it, and I was up for the challenge from the moment I saw the thing. Some people are going to get off by having their partner screw this toy into them, while others are going to enjoy the immense amount of sensation felt when pushing the toy straight in. I found both of the insertion/removal methods to have their own brand of kink, so consider trying both for yourself.

The screw shape is the perfect combination of channel depth and rounded edges. There wasn't any point during which I was concerned about the edge of the screw cutting into me as it was being twisted into its destination. I also didn't have to exert much effort to stay on "track" once the screwing had started. I never had to worry about it jumping to the next thread accidentally.

I began to notice, as more and more of the toy was inside of me, that the screw became more difficult to turn. Towards the very end, it felt as if I was twisting the neck itself, instead of turning the toy inside of me. When this happened, I just pushed the plug the rest of the way in. I suspect that this was mostly due to not having enough lube involved late in the game.

Performance

Of course, the winning combination of thread size and graduated edges make this toy an on-the-edge experience while still being safe for use. When you first see it, it certainly looks scary.

The threads are very comfortable, although you'll want to make sure that plenty of lube is involved, and may choose to warm up with a different toy, or use a lube shooter. You'll notice that the toy provides a lot less resistance if you take the time to lubricate all surfaces.

One thing I noticed is that the neck is so flexible that it twists on itself rather than continuing to move the toy farther inward when it meets too much resistance. If you provide more pressure, add a little more lube, or help the toy along by holding the bulb a bit, you can avoid this issue.

Finally, being that that the base is very flexible, it becomes much more likely to slip out of your hand when it's completely covered in lube. Try to keep it as dry as possible in order to minimize the possibility of it slipping out of your grasp.

Care and Maintenance

The Twist, like most Tantus toys, is made of 100% silicone. Silicone can be cleaned with soap and warm water. To sterilize the toy, you can run the toy through a dishwasher cycle on the top rack, boil it for 3 minutes, or wipe it down with 10% bleach solution.

The curves on the Twist provided an interesting obstacle. Whereas most of my other toys are smooth, and have few crevices, the Twist caused me to need to come up with a more efficient way of wiping it down. I began with a warm soapy washcloth, and started wiping at the top of the spiral. I followed the channel of the screw the entire way, rotating the toy as I wiped, in order to keep the washcloth inside of the curvature the whole time. Obstacle defeated!

As far as storage goes, I tend to keep the toy inside of the original Tantus packaging. When the toy sits out, it tends to collect lint, and the package helps to minimize that. This toy should not be stored with other silicone toys, as it could react with those toys and cause damage.

Oil and water based lubes can be used with the Twist. Silicone based lubes should be avoided, since they can also react with the toy and cause problems.

Packaging

The toy is packaged in a clear plastic box, with the toy suspended inside of a clam shell insert. The box is not discreet, and can't be left sitting around. Since the toy is clearly visible inside the box, anybody who sees the packaging is going to know what the contents are designed for. No instructions were included in the box.

The box is excellent for storage, since it keeps the toy free of lint and dust. The clam shell insert slides out easily, and the toy rests inside nicely. The package certainly isn't classy, and I wouldn't really qualify the box as suitable for gifting.

Personal comments

I think this toy is going to be incredibly popular. It's so different from every other butt plug out there. Even if you don't love it, you'll be glad that you at least tried it, and will almost certainly plan on using it again. I know I do.

Experience

I really enjoyed three things about the Twist. The first is the anticipation factor. A great deal of the fun associated with this toy is the journey. When my wife was putting it in me, I could feel her starting the toy, and I could feel every turn of the screw. There was a pause between each turn. During the lull, I found myself waiting anxiously for what the next turn would feel like as the toy moved further inward. By the time she had it finished, I was a giant ball of ecstasy.

This brings me to the second thing that I really liked about the toy; it feels great against my prostate. When the toy was fully in place, I could immediately feel it up against my p-spot. Of course, I was already worked up from all of the attention that I had been getting. Clamping down caused the Twist to pull against me even tighter. Wow!

After a few minutes of enjoying all of the sensations I was feeling, I took a moment to survey what the toy left exposed to the outside world. This brings me to the third great thing about this toy: the base of the toy while inside. It pulls itself so flat against you, that you may not even me able to feel it. What is left outside is so small and flexible that you just have to try it in order to appreciate it.

I would have gotten a Tantus plug, but they didn't have one in the size of shape I was looking for. Sad.

I do have the Neo on a wishlist though.
