Use

The Pearl ride by Eden Toys is a plug meant for anal use. It's specifically designed with a flared base so that the user won't 'lose' the toy internally, but users should still practice caution when playing with any anal toys. This particular toy can be used on a bed, in the shower, or wherever you like to play and can be used by anyone whatever the situation. The toy may be able to provide p-spot stimulation in men, depending on anatomy and amount of pressure required. The Pearl is best manipulated by thrusting by hand, but it can also be suctioned to a surface if you'd like a more hands-free approach.

The Pearl can be traveled with, as long as you're not easily embarrassed should TSA check your bags and come across this item. It's small and compact, and it can fit in tight spaces...pun intended, but it can also be identified as to what it's used for just from the look of it. So if you'd rather not have your anal toy found in your bag, or anywhere else, leave it at home.

Material / Texture

The Pearl ride is made out of pure silicone. This non-porous, hypoallergenic, latex and phthalate-free material is highly regarded for its resistance to bacterial growth and sterilizable qualities. People with allergies to latex and sensitivities to scents will love silicone as it has no scent and does not cause allergies in any way. The particular silicone of the Pearl ride is smooth and matte. It is a lint and dust magnet, but feels velvety to the touch, and is bumpy in texture due to the design.

The silicone is flexible, but firm, and doesn't have much give when squished with the fingertips. It is flexible enough that the material can be bent in all directions, while the base stays firm enough that it won't fold into itself or cause any problems when using the toy. The texture of this toy is great even for beginners as it eases them into texture with the beads varying in size. It is obviously not a realistic toy, so it doesn't feel realistic to a penis, but will lend itself to some nice internal stimulation.

Design / Shape / Size

The design of the Pearl ride is a beaded anal plug. It looks like a set of anal beads, without any space in between the beads, or the string. It looks as it is named, a black set of pearls stacked atop one another in an ascending size down to the flared base. It can be used in a harness if you can manage with the small size of the plug, and it has a suction cup base that will work on any flat surface if you're looking for a hands-free ride. Overall, the toy measures 4 inches in total length, 3-3/4ths inches of insertable length, and 3-1/8 inches in circumference around the largest insertable bead. The base has a 2-3/8ths-inch diameter, and the toy itself is 1 inch in diameter of the largest bead and 1/2 inch at the smallest bead in diameter.

Compared to the Eddie (left) and the Beginner Anal Kit (right)

This is the perfect plug for beginners and would be a wonderful option for a first-timer to anal play. It has a non-threatening appearance and doesn't have a lot of texture if the user is unsure about how much they will enjoy textured toys. Advanced users and size queens/kings need not apply for this toy, as the largest bead is comparable to a gumball or small jawbreaker, and the length is comparable to that of a middle finger.

Performance

The best thing about this toy is the beaded texture. It provides internal stimulation like that of anal beads, without the separation between the 'beads' and without feeling too pokey. This beaded texture stimulates the rectal wall and may even target men's p-spot if maneuvered correctly. It's easy to use and easy to insert with liberally applied lubricant. Once inserted the plug is extremely comfortable, and clenching around the toy will provide more stimulation.

You can walk around with the plug inserted, but the base may be a little awkward under clothing. The suction cup of the toy sticks to a smooth surface well, and will only come off of the surface when you slide your finger under the edge of the base to release it. If the surface has pores or is uneven, the toy will not stick to it. The toy can be moved in all directions when it is stuck to a surface.

The downside to the toy is that it's merely the size of a middle finger, so this may not be enough to stimulate all users. This toy will be great for beginners because it will ease them into anal play without worry of pushing the limits of what they may or may not be comfortable with inserting.

Care and Maintenance

With silicone toys you need not worry so much about the material becoming gross and bacteria ridden over time, as they can be completely sterilized. This can be done through boiling your toy for up to three minutes, stuck in the top rack of your dishwasher (without detergent), or bleached in a 5% bleach solution (95% water). You can also quickly clean your toy with hot, soapy water, a toy cleaner, or a toy wipe, but anal toys should be boiled once or twice a month. You should always clean your toys before and after every use, as silicone is a lint and dust magnet, attracting everything from dust to pet hair to its surface. You should also always clean your toys between orifices if you plan on using the toy vaginally after anal use.

If your silicone retains a scent from usage (and it probably will) simply leave it out in the open where flowing air can get to it, or sit it in the sun for a couple of hours. These methods can help if boiling or bleaching doesn't do the trick. If none of the methods work, try storing your toy with a potpourri pouch of natural things such as vanilla or coffee beans, and never put a store bought potpourri with your toy as these have chemicals in them. Users can also clean themselves anally with a douche to lower the risk of scents attaching themselves onto the toy's surface.

Remember when playing with the toy to always use water-based lubricants, as silicone lubricants may react to the toy's surface. If you have a hybrid (silicone and water) based lubricant and would like to try it, pick an inconspicuous spot on the toy and leave some of the lubricant for a few minutes to see if there is a reaction between the lubricant and the material. If the spot becomes gummy or sticky in any way, wash the remaining lubricant off immediately with soapy water and do not use it on the toy whilst playing. This gummy reaction is the silicone 'melting'.

Store your silicone toys in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight. This toy can easily fit in a sock drawer, small box, or you can toss it into your toy chest. Silicone toys CAN touch, contrary to belief, as long as the user is sure that their toy is made from 100% silicone. If you're not 100% sure that your toy is silicone, store your toys in separate Ziploc or organza bags. Do not allow silicone toys to touch lesser materials such as jelly, rubber, PVC, TPR, TPE, cyberskin, etc. as this will degrade or discolor your silicone. With proper care and maintenance, a silicone toy can last a lifetime.

Packaging

Shipping is always discreet and you never have to worry about your package stating that there is an adult toy inside. The toy came shipped inside of a plain, unmarked cardboard box. This box only contained the shipping addresses on the outside label, and did not indicate that it was shipped from a sex toy manufacturer in any capacity. If one were curious they may google the address that is printed, but in no other way will anyone know that the user has purchased an adult product. It does not even say Edenfantasys anywhere on the box.

Inside the box, the toy is packaged under air pillows to keep it from shifting around in transit. The packaging slip is nestled on top as the user opens the box. This packaging slip contains instructions for returns or exchanges. The toy itself was packaged in an unremarkable cellophane bag. Once opened, the bag cannot be sealed again and is useless for storage purposes. There were not any labels on the bag aside from a barcode sticker for stocking purposes.

There weren't any instructions given with the toy, and all of the packaging can be recycled. If gifting this toy, a gift bag or box should suffice in keeping things discreet. Always let someone know if you're gifting them an adult item if they are easily embarrassed.

Personal comments

For the purpose of this review, I'm giving the toy 5/5 stars. The fact that this toy did not meet my requirements does not mean that the toy has any flaws in any way. This may be the perfect plug for others, but as a more advanced user this toy excited neither me nor my partner as another, the more sizable toy might have. This plug is both a great size and a great material for those who are just starting out with anal play and is one of the affordable options available.
Follow-up commentary
These are great for beginners to anal play. It's the perfect size as an introductory toy, and users will have a lot of fun with this beaded plug. It's not that we don't like this plug anymore, we just don't get a lot of use out of it, now that we've advanced with toys and anal play.
