Climax beads - large - anal beads by Cal Exotics - review by Jimbo Jones

Anal beads are pretty easy to figure out. Round things you put up your ass, right? There are differences in technique, but the concept is pretty straightforward. Beads usually fall into one of two categories, those connected by stiff pieces (usually out of the same material as the beads themselves) and those connected by cord. The Large Climax Beads by California Exotic fall into the cord-connected category. I have experience with both types of beads, and I will say that there are benefits to each. Which do I prefer? Well, that depends...
These can be used anally or vaginally and can be very stimulating either way. Since I lack a vagina, I will provide insights that my partner offered from her use of similar sets that we own. They can be left in anally during intercourse or during fellatio. If they are extracted right at the moment of orgasm, the additional sensation can be quite extraordinary and extremely enjoyable. They can also be left in while another item is inserted for additional movement and sensation. This use can put additional pressure on the g-spot or prostate which can have very exciting results.

These beads are plastic with a nylon retrieval cord. This is generally the materials of construction for beads of this type. The beads are smooth and the cord is knotted before and after each bead to hold the beads in place on the cord. The cord is melted at the ends to prevent fraying, and this is the part that can be uncomfortable.

The Large Climax Beads by California Exotic are five smooth, blue plastic beads about 7/8" in diameter. I know the product page says they are yellow and 1" in diameter, but I double checked my measurements and compared them to a set of anal beads that measure out at 1" in diameter and they are distinctly smaller. The product pictures shows three different colors and the largest of the three is blue. The cardboard insert in the packaging also says large and the plastic surrounding the beads was formed to the size of the beads, so unless the insert was switched, everything seems to indicate that I received the correct product.
All that aside, although the beads were not quite as large as promised they seemed to do their job pretty well. The end of the nylon cord could poke sometimes, but the cord seemed soft enough to be comfortable for the most part. The ring at the end of the cord was large enough to prevent any mishaps and the cord seems sturdy enough to last for quite a few uses.

The Large Climax Beads perform very well. As well as other anal beads of the same type and size, certainly. The cord is thin and soft and although the beads are not as large as some, they still provide the sought after movement and stimulation. I was very pleased with their performance anally as their movement inside of me with the addition of a butt plug or during thrusting activities really stimulated my prostate nicely and enhanced my subsequent orgasm quite a bit. It's certainly worth giving them a chance in my opinion.

Care and maintenance is probably the most difficult thing about this type of anal beads. Plastic isn't too bad for anal play since it isn't as porous as some other materials (jelly) but it doesn't have the cleaning options of a silicone, glass, or metal toy. Silicone is softer than plastic, but glass or metal would make an interesting set of high end anal beads. It doesn't resolve the real cleaning problem here though which is the nylon retrieval cord. There really isn't any good way to keep that thing clean. Soap and water will get off most things, but over time it is going to look worse and worse. The best solution may be to realize that replacement of the cord (or toy) is going to be necessary periodically and just have fun with it. These things are inexpensive, so periodic replacement is not unreasonable. Due to the ability to really clean this product well, these beads should really not be shared. A condom could be used for sharing, but I feel that would really defeat the beads' purpose. Cleaning is where the beads that use the same material for the connecting pieces can really shine as silicone beads with silicone connectors are much easier to clean and can be shared.

The packaging of the Large Climax Beads is a plastic casing formed around the beads with a cardboard insert behind it. The plastic casing is meant for hanging and should allow for adequate display of the product. California Exotics put a picture of a provocative naked woman seated by the side of a pool on the front but she is positioned as to not reveal any of her genitalia. She is pretty, I admit, but what she has to do with anal beads, I have no idea. There is no way of knowing if she is wearing them in the picture, but I will give them the benefit of the doubt and at least assume that she has been introduced to the product in some way.

You already have comments on my experience in this review, particularly in the performance section, so I would like to mention my partner's perspective. I am the only one in my partnership to use the Large Climax Beads, but we have other sets of beads of the same style already, so the comments about my her experience with beads is based on her use of the other beads. She really enjoys using this style of anal beads. Inserting them either anally or vaginally is an excellent addition to foreplay. Keeping them in during intercourse makes her nuts. If they are inserted in the hole opposite of the one I am penetrating and then withdrawn during orgasm she goes wild. Or I penetrate in the same hole where the beads are, the additional internal stimulation drives her absolutely crazy. These experiences make having a few sets of this type of bead around (one set for me and two sets for her) well worth it.
