Dubstep in your butt - My Saga with the Eden Flexi

All in all, the Eden Flexi Vibrating Anal Dildo sounds more impressive than it is. It will definitely get the job done - but the job will be harder, more confusing, and more slippery than it needs to be. Although it is inexpensive, upgrading to a better quality similar toy for an extra 10 bucks would definitely be worth it. Plus, it runs on batteries. You deserve better for you and your butt.

I originally picked this toy out, keeping my male-bodied partner's newly de-flowered behind in mind. It was decently rated for the price, and I figured, "why not?" Why not, indeed. This toy is nothing particularly special, but it certainly is a wonderful stepping stone for those experimenting with vibrations and anal play.

The packaging for the Eden Flexi was not particularly appealing - encased within a plastic tomb, I was not instantly intrigued, instead opting to explore the rest of my Eden order before returning to the Flexi. However, when I returned to it, I was instantly disappointed with the smell of the product. Plastic-y and somewhat acrid, I was turned off from the start. Thankfully, with the right body-safe soap, most of the smell dissipated.

I knew better. I expected it. But I couldn't help resenting the Flexi for eating up three AAA batteries at a time. Despite those batteries lasting a good long while, my partner would sigh whenever he felt the power beginning to wane, and it would die shortly after, buzzing out it's last gasps within minutes of decreased vibration.

That being said, the vibration itself is nothing to write home about, either. Not particularly strong, it's still very noticeable - but the control for the vibration is a one-touch button that cycles through uninteresting vibration settings. My partner endorsed the sustained high vibe setting setting, and the slow, continual pulsing, rejecting the other modes as "feeling like a stranger was randomly poking and prodding without any sense of rhythm", calling it "dub-step for my butt!" the first time I cycled through the modes. In addition to the spastic vibration modes, the only way to turn it off is to press and hold the button down. The only way to go back to a previous setting is to cycle through once again. And on top of it, the button is on the bottom of the base of the toy - y'know, the farthest part from your reach? Trying to use it hands-free or riding it as a stationary vibrating dildo results in the settings changing or the entire thing turning off on occasion.

The toy will stand up on its own when placed on the dresser, and it does have a shapely look about it. It isn't extremely thick, and the bulbous head can provide for some interesting sensations - but it is manageable even for beginners. The design of the base is truly where things went wrong. A brittle plastic, it feels cheap and easily permeable. As we discovered, it easily collects lube and other gunk in the opening to the batteries. This also makes it difficult to wash, as the part joining the silicone and plastic casing for vibration are intertwined, and nigh-on-impossible to thoroughly clean without the use of a toothpick or the equivalent. And I don't know about you, but being able to thoroughly disinfect my anal toys is somewhat of a priority - the fact that I have to spend 20 minutes in between uses is enough to discourage me.

With all anal play, there is copious amounts of lube. The brittle plastic of the bottom casing plus the lube makes for a fun game of "which direction is the sex toy curved?" Trying to use this with a partner can be difficult, as the toy itself frequently slips out of my grabs with the smallest amount of lube on it. "I'm trying" is the phrase I associate with partner play and this toy. It's not easy to see the direction, and there are no clear markings for the curve of the toy on the outside, so you'll have to be prepared for an open dialogue consisting of a lot of "wait, like that?"

My final take: I didn't set out to write a negative review of this toy, as it has brought me and my partner a great deal of enjoyment. For the price, we've definitely gotten our money's worth. With that being said, this toy has some obvious flaws that make it a less-than-convenient toy. An upgrade is in order in the near future. I would still give the Flexi a solid 6.5/10.

My partner's final take: "I should be able to find my prostate with it. It's nice, but doesn't do anything that fingers can't do better. 6.5/10"
