Doc Johnson's Gum Drop Slick vibrating anal toy is marketed toward those looking for their first anal experience. It's small, sleek and non-intimidating, perfect for those who've never used anal toys or for a warm up before using larger toys. The toy also comes with a tiny, one speed vibrating bullet to enhance your play.

The Gum Drop Slick is made from phthalate free PVC and the bullet is plastic. Both are very smooth with no added texture. Phthalate free PVC rates an 8 on the material safety scale; it cannot be completely sterilized so this toy should not be shared. The PVC does have a bit of drag to it and it does pick up hair and lint. The plastic bullet has no smell or taste; the plug has no taste and a typical PVC smell to it. The smell doesn't seem to dissipate with washing, but I can only smell it when I hold the toy near my nose.

The base of the plug is quite flexible, aiding in bending both sides down to open up the hole the bullet sits in to get it in and out. The neck of the plug is also very flexible without the bullet in it. The top of the plug has some flex to it and a little bit of give when squeezed.

The Gum Drop Slick is similar in shape to other anal plugs. It has a tapered tip to aid in insertion; from there, it gradually increases in size before decreasing to a straight neck and the base. The entire toy is quite small and suited more toward beginners or those who prefer very small plugs. Because of its size, it is also very easy to travel with, but it isn't very discreet. It's a butt plug and it looks exactly like what it is.

The bullet is 1 7/8" long, and while in the plug, it only extends just over a half inch from the base.

The bullet is not waterproof (and not in direct contact with the body), so a toy wipe would suffice in cleaning it. The plug cannot be boiled or placed in the dishwasher, otherwise it would melt. Though cleaning it is easy with soap and water. After cleaning, allow the plug to completely dry before storing or re-inserting the bullet. Both silicone and water-based lubricants are safe to use with the Gum Drop Slick. Personally, I did not need to apply lube to the bullet to re-insert it into the plug; it slid back in very easily.

To store, either place it back into its packaging or a Ziploc style baggie (which will prevent it from picking up hair and lint).

The Gum Drop Slick comes in Doc Johnson's typical packaging; a clear plastic box. It is not discreet as you can easily see the toy through the front. The box lists the name of the toy, manufacturer, material, online contact information for Doc Johnson and brief details about the toy. It also states that this is "The perfect starter toy for introductory anal play" and that this is "Designed for beginner anal play". The toy itself sits inside a plastic tray and there is also the generic battery insertion instruction sheet included.

Even though I've purchased a few anal toys, I've never actually used them yet. So I would definitely consider myself an anal virgin. Okay, maybe not completely. There was one time when I was young when I unscrewed the thin barrel off of a curling iron, scrubbed it up and slipped it into my ass. But I was only 11 or 12 and didn't know what I was doing, and of course I would absolutely not recommend shoving a curling iron barrel up your or anyone else's ass. I also had two people attempt anal sex with me, but it just did not happen (plus I don't think we even thought of lube at the time). So technically, this toy is the third item I've placed in my ass (the very same day I first used this, I attempted to use the Swirly Deuce just to see if it would measure up/fit me).

Using the Gum Drop Slick was very easy and the tapered tip helped it slip in without a lot of effort. Once in, as I reclined on my bed, I actually couldn't really feel the toy inside me unless I clenched around it. Turning the bullet on definitely made this toy more noticeable. Frankly, for me, it made me feel like I had to poop. Though I've never had anything vibrating in my butt, so the sensation was new to me. Because I really didn't care all that much for the vibration, I shut it off and put my pants back on to see how the plug felt while moving around.

I walked around, moved about and sat down comfortably with the plug in. The feeling wasn't all that intense or noticeable because of its small size, but it stayed in place. I was able to sit fine with it in, but I do have a little extra junk in the trunk, so I cannot state whether or not this will be comfortable for others while sitting. I wore the toy for about an hour just to see if I could... again, because of its small size, it wasn't all that noticeable.

I definitely do think this is a great toy for those who've never tried anal play at all, or for those who prefer very small toys or want a small warm up piece. It's comfortable and easy to insert, but again, because it can't be sterilized, it shouldn't be shared. Plus placing a condom over it is a bit awkward and the base causes the condom to tent. I only took one star off because of the material, its smell, and for the bullet not being waterproof.
