Just what the Doctor ordered!

Great for beginners to prostate stimulation, and g spot stimulation. This is definitely worth a try. The vibrations were more powerful than I expected from a smaller toy and so quiet!

Use

The Versatile Prostate Stimulator is endorsed by Dr. Joel Kaplan. I had never heard about him before, so I Googled him. His Myspace page states that he has a Ph.D. in clinical psychology and human sexuality. It also states that he is a registered sex researcher and certified sex therapist. He is most known for his research involving penis pumps to help with impotency. Now, as to the truth of these statements, I have no idea. Al I do know is that this prostate stimulator is pretty awesome.

This toy is curved to hit the prostate in males, but could also be used to hit the g spot in females. It's made well and has 10 moderately powerful settings. This is meant to be inserted to the point where the curved tip wraps around your the "spot" and left there. I suppose you could do some rocking or light tugging, but this is not designed for thrusting. You could use this alone or with a partner. My man is still a little new to prostate massage, so he likes me to be there to "help" him and keep him turned on so he doesn't think too much about the fact that he something in his ass. He hasn't been able to come from prostate massage alone and I was hoping that something that vibrates would help him in this. So far, he hasn't been able to, but has come pretty close. Indeed, he gets so close from the vibes on his p spot, that I barely have to touch him to finish him off.

Material / Texture

I am a bit confused on the material of this toy. The product page says it is made of plastic and PVC. The plastic part, I get. That is the handle where the buttons are to turn this on, and the part you open to put in the batteries. Now the PVC, I have no experience or knowledge in. Looking it up on this site seems to allude to the fact that it is a type of plastic. That is where it confuses me, because the insertable portion of this toy is made of what looks and feels like rubber. It's super shiny, has no taste, but definitely has a slight rubber smell. It reminds me of the black rubber dong I have that is made of Sil-a-Gel, so I decided to look up Sil-a-Gel. Sure enough, it says that it's made of PVC, so what is the difference? I will have to find out, because PVC is listed at a material safety of 2, while Sil-a-Gel is listed as a 5. I am thinking they add things to the Sil-a-Gel to give it antibacterial properties. Either way, this caused me to use a condom with this toy, as I wanted to try it in my vagina. If you are ONLY going to use this for anal, I would say that you probably don't need a condom. The material is slick and smooth, firm but flexible, and shouldn't harm you. If you have any doubts, it won't hurt to use a condom and it doesn't take away from the pleasure.
The texture is mostly smooth, but it does have some oval shaped bumps a long the sides at intervals at what I call the "joints" where the bulbs taper in slightly before you get to the next bulb. You know, I am not sure bulb is the right word. It reminds me of a scorpion's tail. It has many slight bulbs that remind me of a really big finger, curved at the joints it that "come here" motion that is so good at reaching our spots.

Design / Shape / Size

The design is where this toy shines. It is perfectly curved to reach even the most "stubborn" g or p spots. A beginner might find the curve intimidating, but keep in mind, it is very flexible. I would recommend going slow and taking your time to experiment to see what feels best to you. This is also very slim, only measuring 7/8 of an inch in diameter, with the tip being kind of pointed and made for easy insertion. My man is very new to anal toys and usually very nervous. He wasn't intimidated at all; in fact this is the first anal toy that he was actually excited to try. I was very delighted and kind of proud of him! It has taken quite sometime to get him to this point, where he is getting more comfortable and isn't afraid.

The product page lists this as a total length of 10 inches with 7 and half being insertable. Technically this is correct, but you have to consider that you will likely only be inserting this as far as the curve, which is only about 5 inches, 6 at most if you want to push it in a little farther. This may sound like a lot, but it shouldn't scare anyone new to anal toys. Every one is different and you may find that you need only insert it a few inches to enjoy it.

As for the overall look, it is definitely something that you could not pass off as art or a back massager. It's not phallic or blatantly sexual, but I don't know what you would say it is if some one saw it. I really like the look of it though. I reminds me somehow of a sci-fi movie or something form outer space. It isn't very big though, so you should be able to hide it well, though it is an awkward shape to just slip in a sock.

Performance

The vibrations are centered in the very tip of the curved portion, though the travel well throughout the entire shaft. They are very powerful vibrations, but not overwhelmingly so. So this is where I will talk about the 10 different vibration settings and the part I have dreaded. The thing is, it is really hard to tell the difference in some of them while in use. I thought it was just the fact that I was using this in my vagina and that maybe in a tighter place like the anus, you would feel it differently. My man isn't good at describing them either, so I was faced with using this toy anally, which I wasn't really wanting to do. I don't know why, but the curve had me freaked out. I have never used anything this curved in my ass before, but not wanting to show my man my fear, I went for it. If the anal virgin wasn't scared of this thing, then why should I be? So, I tried it. While I could tell the difference in some, I still couldn't tell a distinct difference in all the settings. Also, the ones I did, are going to hard to explain, but here goes:

1)Highest setting first, just constant vibe.
2)Medium, same as first.
3)Low, same constant as the first two.
4)escalating pulses, low, medium, high, repeating rapidly.
5)high setting pulsation.
6)another high pulsation but faster.
7)this is where is gets confusing. This definitely feels different than the previous one, but it is just the same pulsations, but somehow a different type, maybe throbbing?
8)same as before but more rumbly?
9)same as number 5 but deeper more powerful... my favorite setting as well as my man's.
10)same as number 6 but medium intensity.

The thing I don't like about the settings is that it seems kind of random. I would have liked if it went form lowest to highest, then some gradual pattern going from lightest to most intense so you could build your orgasm. You have to cycle through them all in that order too, which makes finding the one you liked better a little difficult. Also, for such powerful vibrations, this things is almost silent! Even at the highest setting, it would not be heard through closed doors. It can be a little louder when placed on a hard surface, but still, I doubt you would hear it through a closed door.

The control buttons are on the tip of the handle on the backside, which makes it easier to control with your finger tips, instead of your thumb like most vibes. There is one to turn it on and off, and then one underneath that to cycle through the settings. The good thing the controls is that when you turn it off, it starts back up on the one you left off on. This makes it good if you have a favorite, you will have it there every time as long as you don't accidentally hit the button to change it. The buttons aren't too sensitive though, but as they are on the backside, you might not see what button you are pushing. I found also that you can turn this on by pushing the settings button as well. You can only turn it off with the off button, but can use either button to turn it on. This may be a defect in my toy in particular, but I like it.

The battery compartment opens with one quick quarter turn and it takes two N batteries, which I have heard are hard to find. Luckily this toy came with them and Eden Fantasys carries them if you need more. We have used this five times between the both of us at least 15 minutes each time. The vibes are as strong as they were the first time. I will comment about the battery life in my follow up, to tell you if I had to replace the batteries.

This toy is also waterproof, but the package does say NOT to immerse in water. I imagine this is for where the buttons are located. There is an o ring under the battery cap, so I would say this is shower friendly. We haven't used this in the shower, but I have had no problems while cleaning under a running faucet.

Care and Maintenance

Since we use condoms with this toy, clean up is simple. We just use soap and water. For those who choose not to use condoms, I would just take care not to share it or use it in the vagina after using it anally. This material is porous and can not be sterilized. The package just says to use your cleaner of choice. I don't think a diluted bleach solution would hurt if you wanted to try sanitize it better.

I store mine in its own zip top bag, but you could use the container it came in, which is a plastic hinged container made to fit the toy. The packaging is not discreet, as you can see the toy itself, but the package insert and instructions it comes with can be taken out and will leave you with a clear plastic case for your toy.

As far as lubes, this site say that you can use water and silicone based with PVC, but the directions say only "Always use a water based lubricant with this toy for maximum pleasure". This is a bit vague. I don't know if they are just recommending lube for use or saying that only water based lubes should be used. If you are using condoms, it won't matter much, but just to be safe, you could test a tiny area with silicone lube to see if it harms it in any way. We only use water based lubes, so I haven't tested this.

Experience

So did this work? Depends on what you are looking for. If you need help finding your g spot or p spot, this will hit it every time if you insert the curve all the way in. The thing I found is that the tip is too small to stimulate my g spot in the way a broad tip or bulge would on my other toys. The vibrations are powerful enough to bring me to orgasm and, like I said before, powerful enough for my man to come with very little stimulation of his penis. Every one is different though, so you might find it is perfect for your needs. I require something bigger and more rigid to have squirting g spot orgasms, but that is just me. This toy is made for men though, and I think they would get the most pleasure from it. This toy makes me wish I had a prostate, that's for sure!
Follow-up commentary
We have used this a lot and my man really likes the vibrations. It gives him some of the most intense orgasms he has ever had, though he still hasn't had the patience to use it long enough to have an orgasm from this alone. The material shows no signs of wear and the batteries lasted through about 10 uses. I just wish it took more common batteries. The only other complaint is the way the vibrations are set up. They start out at high, then medium, then low, then into the various patterns. It would make more sense to start out low, so I can work him up. We have found a vibration pattern he likes and leave it there, so we don't have to cycle through them in use, but this can be a bit annoying. He would rather be able to insert the toy, relax his muscles, get used to it, then work up from low to high. We are still searching for a vibrating prostate massager that has this shape but will have vibration settings that make more sense. Until then, this one will get plenty of use as it is the only p spot massager that he has that vibrates.
