Ace plug royal - butt plug discontinued by Tantus - review by David88

The Tantus Ace Royal, also referred to as the Ace Large, is a butt plug designed to be used by both males and females. I have more butt plugs than any other type of for the simple fact that they are simple to use and once inserted, most (including this one), do not require a free hand to hold it in place. This makes the Ace Royal great for a number uses including:
During intercourse, oral or manual sex for either male or female
While masturbating
Stretching of the anus for larger toys or anal sex

It can also be worn for extended periods for either continued stretching or pleasure, but I don't use it in this way for the reasons explained in the design/shape/size section below.

This could also be used vaginally, although be sure to sterilize it if you have already used it in the rectum. I am a guy so I can't comment on what this would actually do. I would say it's built more to be a butt plug but could be used this way as well. I'm just not sure how pleasurable it'd be.

The Tantus Ace Royal is made out of 100% medical grade silicone. Because of this, it is a great toy if you are wanting to be able to share it with someone else since you can sterilize it either by putting it in boiling water or soaking it in a 10% bleach solution. Silicone tends to hold up better than most other materials as long as you follow a couple guidelines (see Care and Maintenance section).

It is very similar in firmness to another very popular Tantus butt plug the Ryder. While it does have some give to it, it is still pretty hard. I can bend it over with my hand but it takes quite a bit of pressure to do this. I would not say the firmness is an issue; however, I am interested to compare it to the Tristan which is said to have very soft silicone and a similarly long neck to the Ace Royal.

The texture is smooth but pretty grippable without lubricant (hint hint use some or else it's gonna hurt). With lubricant, it easily slips through your hand.

The Ace Royal is 4.25" long with around 4" being insertable. Every butt plug is comprised of three main parts. The head (or bulb), the neck, and the base.

The head of the Ace Royal looks a lot like a mushroom or spade and is 1.65" in diameter. It gets large fairly quick but is relatively easy to insert if you're stretched enough. The fall off on the bottom of it is very quick. I've noticed this type of design can cause a little pinch of pain at the apex of the head for me. I don't think this is because I wasn't loose enough but just a matter of the design. It's only momentary and the majority of the time the plug will be inside of you anyway. The head is quite a bit more difficult to remove than to put in which is good and bad since it helps the toy to not fall out but can cause some discomfort while removing.

I absolutely love the neck of the Ace Royal. The long neck makes it feel very different from shorter neck plugs. I think the best way to describe it is that with a shorter neck, the head of the toy is directly at the entrance of the anus. This can cause a sensation of fullness and needing to go to the bathroom. With Ace having a longer neck, you don't experience this feeling. This doesn't mean there's no stimulation though. Doing kegels to raise your pelvic floor moves the toy further up inside. This makes for a relatively satisfying feeling providing some prostate stimulation as well as the feeling of it moving inside of you. I didn't actually measure it but just comparing it to my thumb the neck appears to be about 1" thick which is thicker than the Ryder but actually feels more comfortable for extended wear due to the increased length. While you can feel this plug inside of you, it is much less noticeable than a shorter neck plug. If you like the feeling of fullness I would look more towards a shorter neck plug.

The base of the Ace Royal... I can see where they were trying to go with it having the hour glass like design as this can convert movement from the legs, like when you're walking, into rotation of the plug which does feel pretty good. Unfortunately, with Tantus' silicone being so stiff, it's not very pleasant. At the bottom corners are sharp points that dig into your skin which really takes away the pleasure of this movement. The base is also very thick at least close to .5". I can see looking at the bottom on mine that it's not flat and some of the sides are higher than the others (I'm guessing this is from overflow in the mold). If it weren't for the neck and head on this toy I wouldn't rate Ace very high; but, depending on your use for this plug, you can find several uses/positions where this isn't an issue. At some point I may try modifying this toys corners to see I can make it less sharp. If I do, I will definitely provide a follow up review about it.

The best thing about the Ace Royal is that, even though it's head is pretty large and may cause some insertion issues, it is extremely comfortable inside of me. I would actually rate it highest in comfort of all my butt plugs. This makes the issue of the base that much more of a bummer (pun intended) as this would make a great longer term ware plug otherwise. Usually after I get an orgasm I want to remove the butt plug immediately as it starts to get uncomfortable but with the Ace Royal it still feels really good which is why I love this toy so much. This allows me to sometimes get a second orgasm that I probably wouldn't of attained otherwise.

Silicone is a great material but it does have a few limitations. For starters, you should not use silicone based lubes with it as this may cause a reaction with the toy. The general rule is that if you really want to use silicone lube, test it on a tiny spot (the bottom of the base would be a good place). There has also been discussion that silicone toys touching other silicone toys can have a reaction so be sure to keep them from touching. I keep mine in lunch bags which also helps it look a little more organized.

Silicone is non-porous and sterilizable. Sharing between people or orifices is possible, but either boiling in water or soaking in a 10% bleach solution is needed. You can also use a condom over the toy for a quicker but perhaps slightly more risky solution.

Mine came in a little plastic bag with a little cardboard with staples through it on the top. Simple with no pornography or anything raunchy, just the way I like it. It did not have any instructions with it.

I would love to write a review comparing between this and the Tristan plug. Maybe even a three way review including the Ace Plug Small. Unfortunately I do not have either of these other plugs now, but maybe in the future...
