Purple dud
There are many other butt plugs that are made of one solid material that are more well designed and functional. This toy just did not work for me, and the material safety is a concern.

Pros
It is pearly and purple
Cons
Will not stay in, water gets trapped between jelly core and rubber exterior.
I am generally forgiving with reviews for items that are less expensive, especially those under $10. However, if the product just flat out doesn't work the way it supposed to and also screams I am a health hazard, I guess I can be a bitch. So...if the truth hurts, maybe it shouldn't be the truth.
Well to begin, this is one of the prettiest colored toys I have ever had. It is a light lilac purple that is pearlescent. I love the shimmer and shine, I love the shade it is, but that is about all there is to love about this toy. For some people even the color will be a downfall because it is a very girly color and really light for anal use.
The toy is supposed to be made of rubber, but only the exterior purple portion is rubber. It is like a little, thin, purple shell that is jelly filled in the center. This makes the exterior a little firm but squishy when pressure is applied. After the first use and wash water became trapped between the jelly core and the rubber exterior. Even after letting it sit for 24 hours, when I squeeze it water bubbles out from around the jelly. This is a major concern for me, because as hard as we all try, sex can sometimes be a little dirty. Especially anal sex. Also, nothing on here or on the packaging mentions this being a phthalates free product. Because of this and since it is an anal toy I would not use it without a condom and a bit of either a water or silicone based lubricant.
The design of the toy is not very useful. The first ridges at the top are only about 1/2 an inch with the very bottom being the only part that is two inches. Getting penetration down to the large ripple that is next to the base is not much of a challenge with lubrication, but getting the last ripple inserted is damn near impossible. Well hell it was impossible for me. I think this is because there is no graduation there like on the other ridges. The middle ridge is the smallest, and then there is a big jump in diameter around the flat saucer shaped ring at the bottom with only a tiny space between that and the base.
There is a tiny bit of suction from the base when placed on the counter or floor but it is weak at best. The hard exoskeleton of rubber will not allow a tight seal to be formed with a flat surface. One plus is that the base is sufficiently wide enough to prevent it form getting lost during use.
Warm water and soap or a good toy cleaner are all you need to clean up with after use. I do recommend not submerging this toy in water. Water gets trapped and can harbor bacteria and can even possibly cause mold and mildew to form. There is no way to know what would be going on between the jelly and the purple exterior. I would wipe the exterior with a cloth while the toy is sitting upright on the base or is being held. If you do submerge it, I would consider tossing it or at least trying to let it drain for a day or two before putting it away with your other toys. Just one toy with a mold problem can cause it to spread with in your collection if they are stored together!!!

Experience
All this toy did was slip out when using it alone or with a partner to try and insert it all the way around the last ripple. As far as using it for thrusting in my ass, I couldn't tell you. So far I just like the full sensation, not thrusting. I could sit on it on the floor but where it would not form a seal, if I moved at all it slid out. Trying to sit on it on the bed was even more useless. I blame this on the middle bulge being the smallest. Finally I got frustrated and just gave up on anything anal for the whole day. Doc Johnson, what were you thinking???
Follow-up commentary
26 days after original review
I confirmed with Doc Johnson, this toy is made with a TPR exterior and a Sil-a-Gel core. Both are fairly safe materials, but I still do not like combination of the two.
I have tried using this again, and it will work, only if the user sits on it immediately after it is inserted.

Thank you for viewing Rippled purple passion – butt plug discontinued review page!
Wow. This was a fail! The whole water getting trapped thing freaks me out...what kind of mold could be growing in there?! EEK!
Did it have an odor or smell?
Did you ever try this vaginally or was it just a complete loss?
Isn't it great that we can go back and edit mistakes now? I know I make them. Here are two small ones you over looked.
"when I squeeze it water bubbles out from around the jelly"
"prevent it form getting lost during use"
