I must confess, I've just wandered into the realm of prostate massagers and ordered two different brands to start out. I specifically looked for two that might be good for beginners. Of the two, the Lux LX-1 has now become a staple in my regular masturbation sessions. (The other prostate massager is simply too big for me and I really haven’t been able to use it.) With that in mind, this review may not reflect the experiences of men who have regularly used prostate massagers as this is the only one I've used so far.

I was a bit wary about sticking an object up my nether regions and took my time while learning how to insert it. It’s important to note that copious amounts of lube is a requirement when engaging in anal play. It’s best to use plenty of lube on yourself, as well as freely coat the Lux LX-1 prior to inserting. I've also found that it feels much better if warmed up first – placing it in warm water for a minute or so usually does the job.

At first, it took a bit of effort to get up the courage to insert it. Once inside, it feels great! To be honest, I’m really surprised at how well it feels. Many times, it’s great to insert it and then savor the feelings for a while before masturbating. For men who haven’t yet tried prostate massagers, be prepared for a completely new set of sensations.

For me, it feels best when I insert LX-1 all the way in – so that the “P-tab” (the horn-like appendage that faces your body when the massager has been inserted) is placed against my perineum – that magical place been your anus and your balls. Doing so adds some extra stimulation during use. For me, I wish that the P-tab was a little longer as it doesn't quite reach where I would like it to be. There is also a tendency for it to pull away during use and that, of course, also stops the sensations I want.

The Lux LX-1 is made from silicone, probably one of the best materials available. Silicone not only gives this prostate massager a luxurious silky feel, but it can be warmed first in warm water and thus provide an even better experience during use. In addition, there are no seams, such as those found on so many other products and this is another indication that the LX-1 is a quality product. Also, there is no perceptible smell to the LX-1 - even when it's taken out of the box for the first time.

Although it can’t be seen, the Lux LX-1 has a core made from ABS plastic; this makes the stimulator quite rigid. Surprisingly, I thought this would make it more difficult to use but I actually enjoy it. The stiffness of the LX-1 makes it easier to insert (at least for me). Given that it does have a slight texture (again, very silky), it’s important to use plenty of lube.

The body of the Lux LX-1 easily fits into the palm of a man’s hand. The part that you put up where the sun don’t shine is just slightly larger than a finger. I suspect that the next time I have go to the doctor for a prostate exam, instead of squirming, I’ll smile while thinking about the LX-1. As can be seen in the picture below, the stimulator is contoured. It’s not too big, although it does take a little practice learning how to insert it. There’s a “horn” on the top that is designed to press against the perineum when the stimulator is fully inserted. Personally, I wish this was a little longer as it doesn't quite hit the right spot for me. In addition, the horn is slightly flexible. The loop on the end is useful when inserting and removing the stimulator. The loop can also be manipulated during use to help find the best spot for maximum effect.

There’s a lot to be said for simplicity. The LX-1 is roughly the size of a human finger and its position can be adjusted during use to accommodate individual differences in anatomy. While I find that this is extremely pleasurable to use during masturbation, I have yet to achieve the “ultimate orgasm” that one reads about in prostate massager reviews. I suspect that LX-1 doesn't quite reach my magic “p-spot.” Even so, it still feels great and enhances masturbation.

As I've become accustomed to using it, I've also found that it will sometimes slip out – especially when reaching the grand finale. As a result, I will sometimes hold the ring to keep it in place - as that feels best – and then remove it after the deed is done.

The LX-1 is exceptionally easy to clean. As it’s made from silicone, it can be cleaned with mild soap and water, or a toy cleaner. Although pure silicone toys can be boiled (something I generally never do), the LX-1 has an interior core of ABS that can be harmed by heat. I would, therefore, not recommend boiling. In addition, bleach should not be used as that can harm the exterior finish. It’s also important to mention that only water-based lubes should be used as silicone-based can cause damage.

Without question, the LX-1 is probably the best packaged item I've yet received as far as sex toys are concerned. It comes in a high quality cigar box-like container that is very tasteful and looks classy – none of those cheesy porn-like photos that often adorn lesser products. Unfortunately, the words “Male Stimulator” are also printed on the box and this gives away that a sex toy is contained inside. This is unfortunate as the box must be kept out of view from wandering eyes.

Given that this is my first prostate massager, I was a bit (okay, very) apprehensive about sticking something up my butt. After I took the plunge (pun intended), I was surprised to find that it really does feel good. I’m not yet sure how the LX-1 may compare to other prostate massagers but I’m glad that my experience wasn't a disaster. I’m sure I’ll be trying more. More than likely, this isn't the perfect shape for my anatomy as I’m still in search for the ultimate orgasm but it’s still fun to use.
