Simply Classic

Although it's not the best plug in the world, it's really attractive and it's not too hard to clean. It's rubber though, which isn't one of my favorite materials. The bottom of mine also seems to be coming apart, which isn't safe and will probably harbor bacteria if I'm not careful. This is a cheaper toy that's pointed to more easily insert, but it does have it's cons.

Use

As this is a butt plug, it's best used anally, but may very well be used vaginally as one wants. The biggest part of the plug is rather large, so you'll need to lube up to use it, but it can easily be manipulated after a while. This can also be used as a thrusting toy.

Material / Texture

The smell is slightly of rubber and jelly, but it's not very strong. It is rubber, so to me it feels thick on the outside, and cloth-like inside. Here, let me explain. Something odd I've found, is that the plug has sort of a rubber coating, a sack-like exterior, around some sort of inner stuffing, and you can feel it when you squeeze. It's a very odd texture, but I do find it unique. As for taste, there isn't really anything there, just a slight rubbery variation. This is definitely a firm toy, and since it is larger I would say that it's for more advanced anal users like myself and my girlfriend, but a beginner is welcome to try. Just don't insert more than you can take and end up hurting yourself. This boy needs a good amount of lube to use, I'd say, even though the whole thing is quite flexible. It's very pointy though, and can hurt going in if you're not careful.

Also, the bottom of the base looks really cheap. There is a sort of ring/circle looking thing on the bottom that seems to be falling apart, like the plug is plugged up with something, and that is the opening, which isn't staying on very well. I'm afraid things could get inside of this and get nasty. It can't be cleaned out and mine was already ripping open as soon as I opened it.

Design / Shape / Size

The design is all right in terms of ergonomics, and I do like the shape and size. It worked well the first few times I've used it, but it is a bit large for beginners, as a medium sized plug. The one thing that I don't like about it is that the biggest part of the plug, near the base, is very hard to be accomodated my my ass, because it's of a larger size. This is a medium size plug, though, and will need a good amount of lube, but it is quite pleasurable. It is also travel friendly, as are most sex toys, so it can be taken to quite a few places by plane, boat, train, or other ways.
    • More advanced

Performance

As I've stated, the larger end of the plug is a bit hard to get in at first and one will need lube for this and, of course, just for the plug in general. It is harness compatible, too.
    • Easy to use

Care and Maintenance

Since it's rubber, it's porous, and I use water based lubricant. However, silicone lubricant can also be used, since there is no silicone in this plug, and it will not be of harm. You may use a condom with it just for safety, though. It's not the best made toy in the world, and the material quality isn't the best either, but it is a butt plug and can bring some good fun. To store it I keep it in a sock, and there's no dust or hair collecting to worry about. However, the sock is not a safe place to keep it. Rather, you should keep it in its original packaging or a plastic bag to keep nasty bacteria from getting into the highly porous rubber and ruining your toy.

To clean it you should probably use a toy cleaner like the ones sold here through Eden Fantasys, and you can also use soap and water.
    • Easy to store

Packaging

The plug is packaged in a simple clamshell case that can be used for storage and for gift giving. It's recyclable, but there are no real user's instructions. The baby blue background in the case that names the product and its description is really quite attractive and looks like one of the pages in an old english book. It says that the toy is Sil-a-Gel and that it's by Doc Johnson, but little else.
    • Good for storage
    • Recyclable
Follow-up commentary
I don't really use this plug very often because it's not made very well and I don't trust the way it feels, but I do wish sometimes that I could. However, it hurts (even with lube) to insert, the bottom is cracked and could attract bacteria (which I can't get out), and it is just not made well at all. Shame, because I had high hopes at first.

    Good first review.
I think I would have returned it if it was coming apart when you received it. Also the smell is not from the Sil-A-Gel but from the rubber, Sil-A-Gel has no smell.

That plug thing in the base is weird. I wonder why they did it that way - this toy doesn't seem to benefit from it.

I'd go for the silicone one first.

It's not the silagel that stinks? Hmm.

If you like you can check out this thread, [https://www.edenfantasys.com/sex-forum/companies/doc-johnson/the-smell-of-sil-a-gel/] scroll down a bit and the is a post from Chad Braverman at Doc Johnson, he explains a bit about Sil-A-Gel. There is another post further into it from Rebecca Weinberg, also from Doc Johnson.

Good start. I would certainly not continue to use this toy if it it torn. No matter how careful you are, a tear in a sex toy, especially an anal toy, will harbor bacteria. Add that to the rubber and you have a virtual petri dish there.

    Thank you for the review.

I don't know, DWTim. The only people saying Sil-A-Gel doesn't smell is Doc Johnson, the user of the chemical.

I have things made of PVC and rubber (sex toys as well as household items) without Sil-A-Gel and they might have a mild odor for a little while, but the odor (which is never as bad as Sil-A-Gel added toys) always fades (like shower curtain smells do.) IF Sil-A-Gel is added, it stinks! We also have a soap that My Man buys at Aldi and it's antibacterial and IT smells like Sil-A-Gel. I'm betting it's the same or a similar chemical.

Why do ALL the toys with Sil-A-Gel added have the same smell, whether they are rubber, PVC, plastic, or whatever?

I, for one, am not buying the manufacturers claim that Sil-A-Gel doesn't smell.

Not doubting you, Tim, just that EVERYBODY has used these toys, on this site and others complains about the smell, like nothing else. If it's the rubber, or the PVC, why don't things made of these materials smell like non-fading strawberry shower curtain for eternity?

Thanks for the review! Be careful if the toy is torn, I would recommend discontinuing use for your own safety.

@DWtim Thank you for the advice. I'll check it out, definitely!

@P'Gell You're right. I don't think I'm going to use it anymore. I can't believe that they would sell a product like this, and I'm very disappointed with the company. I don't know if I'm going to trust them enough to give them my business again..It just seems cheap. Just a way to get money. And as for the mentor program, I've got Alicia, and she's really nice. Thank you. I know I need help on my reviews, and I'm trying so hard. But they still need a lot of work. Haha, thanks for the advice though. All of it.

@KarleeCharm Yeah I'm not going to be using this toy anymore, and I appreciate so much that you care. Thank you.

There is a platinum silicone version of this toy. Check out The Big End. I highly recommend it. Doc Johnson's rubber toys are quite cheap qualitatively, but their silicone line is absolutely amazing.
