So close, yet still so far...

The L'amour plug offers a nice full feeling, and a sensational 'pop' during insertion. The only qualm I have is with the suction cup base being extremely uncomfortable and scratchy. The material is soft and velvety and has a wonderful firmness to it that is hard to beat as far as quality to price ratio is concerned. If you don't think the scratchy base will be a problem for you, this toy will offer terrific stimulation and hold up well to frequent use.

Use

They try to warn you that this is an anal probe for advanced anal players, but if your like me, your eyes are bigger than your butt. Don't ASSume this can just slide right in. I think this probe is indeed best for advanced fans of anal stimulation, cause this sucker is not for the faint of heart. The best way to use this toy is to lube it up and work it in slowly, and if you feel like you are stretching a little too far for comfort, stop to let your muscles and skin stretch to accommodate this bad boy. Insertion of this toy may be easier for some users if there is some other sort of stimulation going on. Stimulation of the clitoris, nipples, penis, or adding vibration to the toy itself may help you focus on something other than the stretching sensation, and might help you relieve some of the tension that inserting a monstrous butt plug can cause.

Material / Texture

L'amour advanced probe is made of a velvety-soft silicone that is very firm, with just a touch of give in the tip and suction cup base. There is no taste or smell to this probe, and the feel of the silicone is like silk. There are very slight ridges running down both sides of the L'amour, but they are not felt during insertion.

Design / Shape / Size

I love the shape and design of L'amour all the way down until you get to the suction cup base. The tip is small enough that it glides right in after a thorough lubing. When you get to the bulge at the bottom and feel your muscles stretch over it and then the wonderful 'pop' as it is fully inserted, it really is a terrific feeling. The size is probably a little too large for beginners, but moderate to advanced anal fans will more than likely find the size just right. The toy is not a realistic toy. It almost looks a little like a sculpture to me. If you get someone who knows about sex toys looking at it, they could guess what it is, but if you have gullible friends, you could explain it away as being a dog's chew toy (complete with suction cup to hold it still). The L'amour would travel well, since there is nothing that can turn on, and has a somewhat discreet shape. It's also pure silicone and won't leave your stuff smelling funny.

L'amour measures a total of 5 3/4 inches, with 5 inches insertable length. The diameter at the plug's widest is 1 3/4 inches (a circumference of 6 1/4 inches). It weights 5 and a half ounces. The suction cup base measures 2 inches across at the widest point, however, the sides bend very easily to the same size as the bottom of the plug.

Performance

The shape of the L'amour was so perfect. It felt nice going in, and coming out, and the base is big enough that it stopped right where it was supposed to. The only thing that this thing has that could be better, is the seam that runs around the edge of the suction cup. I had nothing but love for this toy until I stood up wearing it. The suction cup base dug into my skin, and it hurts! I tried adjusting the sides to point down, but that didn't work, I tried to get them to go up, and that was a no go. I tried to sit to relieve the scratchy feeling, and there was just no cooperation from the L'amour. I was so bummed (pun intended).

The functionality of the base as a suction cup was superior! It is easy to get it to stick to a smooth surface, and hard to get it back off (by accident). Once you pull up a section of the suction cup, it comes right off, and you can carry on with getting things done. It stuck to our shower wall, to our glass shower door (that was an interesting show), our bathroom counter held on to it like we had glued it, and it even stuck decently to our marginally textured bath tub bottom.

As for L'amour being harness compatible, I think it might be tricky. We don't have a harness, so I can't say for sure if it will work or not, but if you have a small enough O-ring, it could be possible. The suction cup base is very flexible, so I'm not sure if it would stay put if your receiver had a firm grip on it.

As I just mentioned, the base if very flexible, so if you have one of those butts that is like a vacuum, you may need to exercise caution with this plug or skip it all together. Nobody knows your butt like you do, and if you have any doubts about it working for your anatomy, skip it.

Care and Maintenance

The L'amour plug is absurdly easy to care for. With little texture and a pure silicone body, you can boil it, throw it in the dishwasher (top rack), wipe it with a toy cleaner or wash it with warm water and a mild antibacterial soap. The package it comes in is suitable for storage, but it is hard to say how long the box will hold up if you have it stored under a lot of other things. If your box does tear up, you can store this toy in a pouch or wrapped in a soft cloth (careful if you have other silicone toys because they can mess up when stored touching each other). I find that miss-matched cotton socks make great toy pouches, and this one would be no exception. Since the L'amour is pure silicone, you'll want to use only water based lubes with it, or risk messing up the material. This plug doesn't collect lint, dirt, dust, or hair and stays relatively clean on its own. I left it sitting on our bathroom counter for over a week, and never noticed anything clinging to the material.

Packaging

The L'amour butt plug comes in an understated translucent box with 'L'amour' written in a pink font across the front. When you open the outer box, the plug is nestled inside a clear, plastic insert. There are a few lines about L'amour printed on the box, but nothing relevant as far as instructions go. The box is discreet in that it isn't covered with naked models or explicit words, but on the other hand, the butt plug is clearly visible through the front, so you will have to be the judge on if it would suit your gift giving needs.
    • Good for storage

Experience

It took a few tries for me to get L'amour fully inserted. I am not new to anal play at all, but something about the bulge near the bottom made insertion a little more tricky for me than with other toys. Personally, I think this is a risky toy. The base is small, and though I felt comfortable that it wasn't going to get lost in me, that doesn't mean it won't happen in someone else's anatomy. The suction cup base is great for sticking L'amour to stuff, but not for a flared base. It was also really uncomfortable having a scratchy feeling digging into my butt cheeks. My butt cheeks even stayed sore for a couple hours after I took it out, and I only wore it for a few minutes (half an hour at the most).
Follow-up commentary
The L'amour probe has not been a probe I have tried to spend more quality time with. The issues with the base are just not inviting for me, and I really doubt I will use the L'amour on a regular basis. It is OK for vaginal stimulation, but it is just not the stimulation that I need, so this toy was not a fit for me. The materials still look like new (because they practically are) and the box it came in has remained in good condition floating around our toy box. I stand by what I said about the quality of the materials, they are excellent, and should stand up to a lot of use. It is a nice quality toy, but the base is small and very uncomfortable when the probe is inserted. It just wasn't the right toy for me.

The issues with the base make this sound very disappointing. All that effort to get it in and then it doesn't feel comfortable when it gets there. That would be very frustrating. Thank you for the great review.
