Adjustable..to a point

The Bad Kitty Eye Mask is a nice looking blindfold that could add some spice to your sensual massages or sensory play scenes. Just slip it on, adjust the wire to fit your nose shape, and enjoy! Since this isn't made with real leather, it is able to be washed by hand, which means you can share it with other folks without a problem. Just be gentle with it and store it properly, and it should last you a good long while.

Use

The Eye Mask by Bad Kitty is a blindfold that's designed to be worn over the eyes, and straps around the back of your head. It is meant to be worn to cut off vision, and hopefully heighten the other senses to add to any intimate experience with your partner.

Masks are typically used in BDSM play, most times to add to sensory play, but they can be used for any occasion you want. Whether it's to surprise your partner by giving up some control or to add to the perfect atmosphere for a sensual massage, masks are very versatile. Even beginners will be able to use masks, as they don't typically need instructions for using them.

This particular mask isn't gender specific, so both men and women can use it as long as their head fits in it properly. Be sure to wash it before and after each use, especially if you're sharing it with someone. Granted, it doesn't get inserted, but it will still get sweat, oils, and skin flakes on it while wearing.

Design / Craftsmanship / Material / Size / Fit

The eye mask is actually made from a few different materials: the outer red material is 100% polyurethane, the black lining is 100% polyester, and the band is black elastic. There is also a metal wire inside the bottom front edging to make the mask fit your face better, especially around your nose. Being made of "faux leather" will make this a nice option for those who prefer a vegan blindfold.

Each sewn seam on the mask is straight and attractive looking. There are not any loose threads or strands sticking out of the mask anywhere, and all the cuts on the fabrics have been cut evenly and sewn with precision. Even the very visible seam down the middle front of the mask is nice looking, and doesn't have any strands of thread sticking out from it. The mask looks and feels very sturdily constructed and should last a good long while if taken care of properly.

The mask will fit easily on someone with a measurement of 22" around the area where you would wear it, over your eyes and around the back of your head. The elastic band is approximately 7" across, and it will easily stretch to about 13" to accommodate larger sizes. From end to end, the polyurethane portion measures about 12" across and 3" wide at the widest point, right down the middle. The black edging around the front of the mask is about 1/4" wide, and the elastic band is just under 1" wide.

Performance

The Bad Kitty Eye Mask was very simple to use, and it fit very well. The wire in the nose piece made it adjustable to a point, and it ended up blocking out most of the light, but not all of it. It worked okay as a blindfold and was comfortable to wear for a long period of time, without chafing or transferring the dyes from the fabric to the skin.

This mask could probably stand to be more adjustable size-wise, because the elastic head strap will only stretch so far, and there are folks with bigger heads out there. Also, serious BDSM folks will probably steer clear of this blindfold, just because there are better designed ones out there that will last a lot longer with heavier use.

Care and Maintenance

The eye mask can be cleaned by gently hand washing with warm water and a gentle soap. Lay it flat or hang it to dry; do not toss it in the dryer. Also, do not bleach the mask: it will ruin the coloration and the quality of the fabrics.

To store the eye mask, just toss it in a bag or box with other blindfolds you may have, or stick it in a drawer somewhere. You can hang it up in your closet, too, if you prefer, just be sure you keep it out of direct sunlight, as that will discolor the mask. It's easy to travel with the mask, because it can fit flat in any suitcase or bag you travel with.

Packaging

The Bad Kitty Eye Mask comes packaged in a red and black paperboard box, with a woman pictured on the front and back wearing the mask. The front and back also contain the Bad Kitty logo, and the name of the item included inside the box. On each side of the box there is a small paragraph of information about the product in eleven different languages.

There is no other packaging included, and no instruction booklets or warranties are included either, so it's very minimal. Once empty, it should be recycled. It's not very discreet packaging, so it should be wrapped if you're gifting it to someone else.

Experience

Personally I don't much care for this blindfold, because it doesn't block out enough light for me. I'm perfectly happy with my plain black blindfold that's a bit flimsy, because it happens to block out all light, and it doesn't really give me the option of having my eyes open while wearing it.

The Bad Kitty Eye Mask was fun to test out and play with, and I think the adjustable nose piece with the wire was a good addition to help it block out more light, but it just wasn't adjustable enough. I could have my eyes open underneath it and see some light coming from the bottom if I looked down at my cheeks, no matter how much I adjusted the wire. Also, red just isn't my favorite color, but that's such a small thing when taking into consideration the entire package.

Nice review, sorry it wasn't all you wanted it to be. What blindfold is it that you have? Thanks for the review .

I have one of those plain black Pipedream blindfolds that came with something else. Although it's not stiff to the touch like the recent ones I've encountered.

Thanks for the review, glad I didn't buy this & now that I've read your review, I definitely won't be. (I wear these for sleep, to block the light, not for play.)
