Collar
by Ruff doggie styles

Adorable...if it fit.

With its small price tag, this item is worth purchasing if you fit the small range of sizes it can accommodate and happen to like a little pink with your black leather. I've stated below the sizes that can fit this item, and it's a lot smaller than one would expect from the product page.

Use

This is pretty much a straight forward item, but with the d-ring in the back with the buckle, you would either have to lead your cute little "pet" from behind or lose the aesthetic appeal of the little gems.
An unexpected use however, is giving it to your cat or dog rather than your human pet (I'll explain why that is a bit further down).

Design / Craftsmanship / Material / Size / Fit

The design is a sort of sweet mix of cute and kink. I really do love it. It's a soft, black, lambskin leather with lovely pink gems (though a much darker shade than other reviews and the pictures mention, at least in my opinion...I'd call it more of a magenta or fuchsia rather than a "bubblegum") surrounded by a small circle of metal.

In terms of craftsmanship, this item lacks nothing. It is absolutely gorgeous!

This brings me to the one and only reason why this item won't become a staple of my daily wardrobe...the fit is atrocious. Do not trust the product page or the rather misleading tag that comes on the collar.
It may just have been the one I got, but the item I received was just shy of 14 1/2 inches END TO END!
Based on other reviews, I was expecting to have to punch an additional hole to make the collar fit, but I was entirely disappointed to find the ends didn't even touch when I went to try it on.

I'd say that it could comfortably fit from around a 10 inch neck up to a 12 1/2 to 13 inch neck on the very last hole, and no more than 13 1/2 to 14 inches maximum (and then only if you feel up to punching an extra hole). Now I have what is a reasonably small neck for a plus size woman (14 1/2 inches at the point this particular item would sit), and I was ready to punch another hole so I could wear this, but I'd have to lose about an inch to an inch and a half of neck circumference to wear it. I do plan on trying, but I'll probably wind up going to Petco and picking a similar style of collar up there.

I really wanted to love this and make it a permanent accessory since it's pretty much the only truly discreet collar on Eden that would go with a wide range of outfits, but it just doesn't work for me.

Performance

This collar does seem reasonably durable, and could probably stand up to light leash leading. Of course, it could stand up to everyday wear and tear if you're getting it as an accessory, so long as you're not terribly hard on the material. I couldn't tell you for certain though, since it doesn't fit.

Aside from quite inaccurate measurements on the product page, I was thoroughly pleased with the item itself and would recommend it for anyone looking for something cute, a little bit naughty in a kinky way, and reasonably discreet. That is, if you can actually fit it (a small reminder, this won't fit any neck larger than 14 1/2 inches around, and that's if you poke an additional hole), I would recommend it.

Care and Maintenance

I've read a wide variety of conflicting opinions on how to care for a leather item such as this, but I think an occasional wipe down with either plain water or a leather cleaner would suffice.

The metal parts should not be allowed to stay wet (getting leather too wet isn't a great idea to begin with), and if you like, a thin coat of clear nail polish can be applied to the buckle and small metal rings around the gems.

The collar should be stored in a cool, dry place away from sunlight (not in a zippy bag or other airtight container), and if you get it wet and have to dry it you would probably be best off gently laying it over a coat hanger for a bit and following a guide such as this to avoid damaging it.

Packaging

The Diva Stars collar came to me nestled "unpackaged" among my other items with nothing but a small tag like you would find on a shirt at the store attached by the typical plastic fastener. The tag could be called discreet since it doesn't really scream "bondage toy," and could be mistaken for a typical collar such as the kind you could buy in a pet shop or store like Hot Topic.

The front of the tag shows a black and white photo of a woman wearing the collar with the words "RUFF-LUST" in leather and "Diva Starz collars" beside the Ruff Doggie logo(the collar itself is in color and surrounded by a sort of glow effect,) but you don't see anything past her collar bone.

The back has the same picture (this time in varying shades of pink) and the same two strings of words from the front and then a small description: "This soft lamb's leather collar will ignite senses. The darkness of midnight draws them in as the fiery gems set their passions aflame. Fits necks sized 12" to 16"."
Right below that, there's a little sentence in bold stating "Who says a little pain can't be pretty?" followed underneath with a bunch of manufacturer information and legal stuff, again with their logo beside it.

I guess the text itself could be a bit...suggestive but you're not likely to notice it if you don't really pick it up and read it.

I do find the fact that even the tag is wrong about the measurements this collar will fit a tiny bit amusing though, even if it is a sad reminder that it won't fit my own neck.

Thanks for this review. It's sad that it does not resist sun and rain, because it's so pretty and should be worn outside...

@TransMarc I'd say just a bit of either once in a while won't kill the leather, there's lots of people that wear collars such as this out and about I'm sure.
The key would probably be not too much sunlight (don't want the lovely black color fading or the leather getting baked after all) and properly drying the collar when it's gotten wet.
It's cheap enough and good quality enough to be worth it if you can fit it. ^_^
