GET KNOTTY!

This product left me both physically and mentally comfortable with my choice. Physically, it's soft enough to not hurt, while being durable enough to get the job done, and is just long enough to try out a few basic ties. If you're a beginner looking to try some new things, while not spending much money in doing so, I would suggest this. If you're looking for something for more than just a few basic ties, however, you will likely be disappointed, as 10 feet only goes so far.

extremely useful review
I have been waiting to get this for some time, since there were a few shipping issues with my order. Once it actually came, I managed to accidentally throw it away in the hustle and bustle of my daughter's birthday, and actually dug through the garbage to find it! In case you're curious, I'd do it again.

Let me first clarify something I AM SO VANILLA WHEN IT COMES TO BDSM. Alright, I'm hoping that was clear enough. I am a complete wimp when it comes to delving into much more than blindfolding my husband with a tie so I can surprise him with a blow job. A good friend of mine is more into it than I am, and this was her suggestion, since I wanted to work with something that allowed me to tie my husband up, without having to spend too much money, so that we could see if we liked it.

For people in my same position, this product is amazing. It's long enough to handle a few simple ties, such as the two column tie, without being too complicated. It's also long enough to use on wrists or ankles, or even both if you get creative, as well as enough to tie someone's hands to a chair or other piece of furniture. However, if you're looking for this to do much more than just the basics, I wouldn't count on it. It is only 10 feet, and 10 feet can only go so far when you're wrapping it around a person, regardless of how small they are.

This package comes fairly simply packaged (although, there's no question what it is or what it's for), in a plastic see-through container, with the rope wound in a circle and the name JAPANESE ROPE BONDAGE written across the included booklet that's on top of it. You don't need to cut or pry open the package, as it easily comes apart. When I opened mine, the little rope that was nestled in the front fell onto my lap, and I was immediately pleased with my purchase. It's soft! I had worried it would be coarse or have little jagged stray pieces of nylon, but it didn't. It also isn't as long as I had mentally pictured, but still long enough for its intended purposes.

The ends of the rope have been burnt, and that burned rope is capped with a (rather uncomfortable, if you get scratched by it) piece of hard rubber or plastic. After reading through the booklet, I was left wondering what exactly this was made out of, but assuming that it's some variation of chemically altered hemp. I will attach a quote, in the event that my assumption is incorrect. -- "Japanese Hemp Love Rope is also available, to more closely simulate the benefits of hemp rope. Why use Japanese Silk Love Rope or Japanese hemp Love Rope? The answer is simple: Japanese Silk Love Rope is processed through several proprietary chemical baths to soften it, yet maintain its strength and integrity. These soft, silky ropes are tensile tested to verify their strength and softness. The reason that Japanese Silk Love Rope is so thoroughly tested is that when you soften a rope, you can alter mechanical properties such as yield strength and tensile strength. Thus, great care is taken to ensure that your Japanese Silk Love Rope meets all ASTM standards, while still affording you the pleasure and luxury of a silky-soft touch"

While this product does claim to be "perfect for beginners and experts alike, the rope also comes with a bonus 16 page color booklet detailing various techniques and directions that will prepare you to 'explore a whole new world of erotic expression'". The booklet is, in fact, just a bunch of information about OTHER bondage materials that can be used, that aren't this rope, and some information on basic asymmetric bondage. There are no diagrams or photos or actual directions in how to use this product, other than the statement to "use you (sic) imagination and explore". Little errors like that are all over the booklet, so if you're wanting to get started with a nice book of ties, as well as the rope to do it with, don't count on much from this booklet. If you, however, already know what you'd like to do with this rope, or even just have a small idea that you'd like to tie up your partner or be tied up by your partner, but haven't delved into this type of play just yet, this product will probably be perfect for you.

I need to emphasize: THIS PRODUCT IS NOT TO BE USED ALONE. WHEN USING WITH A PARTNER, HAVE A SAFETY WORD OR SOUND, AND KEEP SAFETY SCISSORS NEARBY.
Follow-up commentary
While I still don't find this to be quite long enough for anything other than tying up my husband's hands to keep them out of my hair during a nice blowjob, I still really do enjoy it. It's soft enough that it doesn't cause burns, it's discreet enough that I can just toss it in a drawer and not worry about if the kids stumble across it, and it's inexpensive enough to grab if you just aren't sure bondage is for you.
