Velcro handcuffs discontinued

Great Starter Cuffs

For non-leather cuffs they are still visually appealing. If you're not sure if restraint is for you these are a way to find out without investing much money. If you find that you do like using cuffs I suggest investing in a pair of higher-quality restraints that will last much longer. At which point these would still be good to have on hand when something water proof would be ideal.

Use

These are great cuffs for beginners because they are fastened with velcro as opposed to the traditional buckle-style leather cuffs, so they can be quickly and easily removed without even having to fuss with the clips. They don't have that "dungeon" look that might intimidate someone new to bondage.

Those with BDSM experience might choose these as a less expensive option to take to play parties or if they are looking for cuffs that are waterproof. Since they are soft and comfortable they would also work well to sleep in or for all-day wear.

Design / Craftsmanship / Material / Size / Fit

I don't think anyone would have an issue with sizing using these as wrist restraints. They are easily adjusted to fit however tight or loose you would like. They will not fit all ankles, however.

There were a couple of stray threads that can be easily trimmed off without causing damage to the cuffs. The material is neoprene which makes it washable and waterproof. I would suggest hand-washing. The edges of the black squishy pyramid shaped squares along the band are not stitched down and could be difficult to clean if something got underneath them. The overall stitching and plastic hooks may not hold up over time if your subject tends to pull on restraints. The velcro closures, as with any velcro, can attract pet hair.

The material is neoprene, which is vegan. It is a synthetic rubber so it's not a "green" product, however. Synthetic rubbers are petroleum-based and are not biodegradable. There are some people who have allergies to neoprene, as well.

Performance

The cuffs can be attached together with the removable connecting strap. This option allows the wearer to remove the cuffs themselves because they can reach the velcro strap. Personally, I don't get the point of using them this way.

The cuffs can be hooked to an under the bed restraint system with the plastic clips. By adjusting the restraint system you can control how much movement is allowed and create enough tension that they are not able to remove the cuffs themselves.

Keep in mind that if your subject can reach the cuffs with their other hand or their teeth they can remove them. What I did really like is that with using the restraint system I did not have to fuss with the clips at all. I simply undid the velcro and left the cuffs attached to the straps.

Care and Maintenance

These cuffs are washable. I believe they can be stored loose in toybox without concern of them touching other product materials. I just left them on the floor attached to the under-the-bed restraint system so that they were easily accessible at the spur of the moment. When we were done playing with them I just unclipped the cuffs and put them in the nightstand drawer (the straps to our under-the-bed restraint system were easily hidden by hiding the straps between the box-spring and mattress).

Packaging

The packaging was unique. So much so that I tried to figure out a way to reuse it. The cuffs are removed from the package through a slot in the back. The slit in the package makes it not ideal for storage, however. The edges of the package are inflated with a valve similar to a pool toy.

I ended up using the packaging to send out some goodies that we did as a giveaway on our blog. Small items like condoms and lube samples easily slid into the package through the small slit in the back. With the clear window it created a nice display for the small items and kept them neatly together inside the mailing box. The inflated sides created some cushioning for shipment.

Personal comments

When my boyfriend and I first started shopping together on EdenFantasys for cuffs I wasn't thrilled with anything with velcro closures. I've always preferred leather or imitation leather with buckles. When setting a "scene", the visual appeal is part of the atmosphere to me. I viewed velcro as being fairly vanilla. I thought that without the feel and visual appeal of leather it might take something away from the experience. Would velcro closures really even create that restrained feeling? There is just something about the feel of buckles being pulled tight and being fastened.

I still feel that these are not ideal for setting a scene but work well for simply restraining someone. Not all scenarios require a carefully constructed scene, sometimes it's just about restraint. He had never allowed someone to tie him up. The fact that he kept pointing out velcro closure cuffs was a cue that these would likely be more emotionally comfortable for him.

Experience

Since my boyfriend had never let anyone tie him up before, I wanted something that could be easily and quickly undone if he were to become either emotionally or physically uncomfortable. I'm not an experienced Dominant so I did not want to take any chance of having difficulty with quickly releasing him if need be. Neither of us knew exactly how he would react and whether he would enjoy it or not. So these were easy and affordable to use for our experiment to find out if it was for him or not.
Follow-up commentary
They are easy enough to pack up and travel with. Even though my intention is to keep them out of sight, I wouldn't be as concerned about someone glancing at these as I would a pair of leather cuffs. If my travel bag is unzipped and someone were to glance at them it wouldn't be as obvious what they are as it would be if they weren't neoprene.

We haven't used the connecting strap at all since we first tried them out. It is removable so it's no big deal. Someone else might like having the connecting strap.
