The head of the paddle is pointed, sort of in the shape of a spear, while the curves are rounded and smooth that lead up to the pointed head. The base of the paddle, at the end of the handle, is curved and smooth as well. There is a small hole cut into the base of the paddle with a thin piece of leather looped through for storage during or after play.

There are three components to this small paddle: leather, thread, and studs.

Let's begin with the leather. The leather is light weight and dyed a light pink color. The edges of the leather have been smoothed and coated to prevent fraying as leather has the tendency to do once cut. There are two layers of leather sewn together to give the paddle the thud that it carries when in use. On both sides of the paddle are three raised hearts. The hearts that are raised in the leather are a part of the leather itself and are not sewn on separately, making for a smooth surface. The leather head is the most flexible part of the paddle. It has the ability to contour to your partner's body and return back to its original shape after use.

The head of the paddle is sewn together with a light pink thread to match the leather. The thread is only used to hold the head itself together, ending where the studs begin near the handle. The thread is tied off at the ends and secure. It is not easily removed and the threading is rather tight, keeping the paddle sturdy and lasting through both light and rough play.

Silver metal studs hold the base of the head and the handle of the paddle together. There are about 30 studs lining the edges of the handle to hold it together. On both sides of the paddle, the heads of the studs are smooth and there are no sharp edges or ends to them. The studs are kept in place in the interior of the paddle and leave the handle sturdy and not pliable.

The paddle is well made and is firm, though pliable as I stated before. It has the potential to last through many sessions of play both soft and rough.

So, if you're asking yourself if this paddle is worth the investment I would strongly suggest you take the time to try it out for yourself. This paddle looks rather harmless and light, but when used with enough force and in the right areas it can provide a rather decent thud and redden the bottom or thighs of your partner. The hearts upon the head have the potential to leave small red imprints on the flesh, though I have not personally used the paddle that hard to leave impressions. My partner at the time squirmed and danced a bit to try to escape the repeated tapping that I gave to her with the paddle. I find that the more repetitions used with the paddle as opposed to force give the greatest effect and leave more marks on the flesh if that is what you are aiming to do. For being such a light weight and small paddle it exceeded my expectations greatly. Being a first time paddle user, I found it easy to manage and use. It was not too bulky or heavy to swing and it allowed for me to position myself differently to strike my partner at different angles. There really are no other uses for this paddle except, well, to paddle a bottom or thighs. I wouldn't suggest trying to paddle a boat or anything or the sort with it. You won't get very far.

There are areas that need to be avoided while using this paddle. Do not, under any circumstance, strike anywhere near the kidneys or vital organs. You and your partner may not realize it at the time, but with enough force and repeated play in those areas can cause serious damage that is not reversible. If you are a beginner, stick to the bottom and thigh area. If you are more advanced and know the precautions and risks involved with playing in such areas, proceed at your own risk. Leather is rather easy to care for. Once play is finished, wipe the paddle down with a warm, damp cloth. Do not use one that is drenched with water or overly soapy as it may cause damage to the leather. If you prefer to use leather wipes or sanitizing wipes, those are fine to use as well.

The paddle has a leather loop at the base that leaves it able to be hung. If you prefer to hang your toys, the paddle can be stored this way. Otherwise, it can be stored in a toy bag, under the bed, in a box, or anywhere you store toys. I would not place the leather in extreme heat and would try to keep it stored in a cool, dry place.

The pink play heart paddle comes packaged in a plastic easy to open box. It is easily pulled apart to remove the paddle.
